It would depend how much they were cut by. It would be interesting to find out the average hourly pay an MP receives given that some of them seem to do very little for their constituents.
My MP is very helpful and puts a lot of effort in to his constituency work.

Most are in it for power rather than money. The reason we started paying them was to dissuade them from taking graft. There are a few notable cases where that didn't seem to work. If we cut back their wages, Al Fayed and Murdoch would be able to buy a few more of them.

Strangely enough, most are already rich when they enter into politics. But having acquired the taste of money, I doubt many of them would stay without the temptation of a decent wad.

lets go for it, get rid of the lot. start over with a few of the normal everyday folk.. with restricted power and privileges.. we control their pay and length of terms and how many terms that could be served.

then we can handle the country with commonsense

As far as I am aware there is no way we can prevent them getting their noses even more deeper into the trough as they appear to fix their own pay and perks.

No of course they wouldn't. Most are on the Boards of major companies anyway and their pensions beggar belief.

I don't know, but i say we find out....
It's about time that things got put into perspective and people like teachers got paid alot and footballers and politicians didn't make as much as they do.

I think it's the only way to get rid of them without resorting to violence.
