If you don't know what that means it means he pulls out before ejaculation. We have been using this and no other form of birth control for over a year now, and so far so good. But I read that this is an unreliable method of birth control because it takes an extraordinary amount of self control on the part of the man. My husband doesn't have a problem with the self control, he just thinks about the possibility of having a baby and it scares the bejesus out of him. So anyway, my question is, has anyone gotten pregnant when you do this as birth control? I don't want to have to remember to take a pill every day and I'm not going to make my husband wear a condom. If this has worked for us so far, how come they say it's unreliable?

because sperm can be present in pre-ejaculant fluid, he can impregnate you without ejaculating, it is how most women in the catholic church get pregnant without wanting to be. That this method has worked for you for so long is nothing short of amazing.

Well my aunt got pregnant using this and I do know lots of people who have gotten pregnant this way. It is unreliable because some women are very very fertile and can get pregnant just by looking at a man so to speak. You most likely don't get pregnant real easy yet which is why it works ok for you. I am not sure why you don't consider using the patch or an IUD though if you don't want to get pregnant or even inplanon. Those are easy methods to use. You could also consider using the female condom, vaginal contraceptive film or the birth control suppositories. I am not sure why you insist on relying on the pull out technique when there are so many other methods available that don't involve a pill every day or a man wearing a condom.

It may be unreliable, but this is the birth control method we have used for the past 6 years, since the birth of our PLANNED son. I don't like the risks involved on the pill, and my husband is like any man, he doesn't like the "feel" of a condom. We have sex probably on an average of 3 times a week and literally we have been lucky so far. We have seriously been considering him having his little friends snipped down there because we are almost 40 now and the having another one right now might literally push me over the edge (you have read about my life on here, I don't need another kid!) Anyway, yes we use this form of birth control and have been LUCKY to have not gotten pregnant. Have your hubby get snipped. My brother did it years ago and so did my husband's brother...no regrets either way. Off work for the weekend, and back to work on Monday. Wayyyy easier for the man than it is for the woman.

Its unreliable because there is sperm in pre-ejaculation. So even if he doesn't finish inside of you there may already be sperm heading up your tubes. And if you ovulate around the time of this you have a good chance of getting pregnant. This method also known as the calender method is the worst because of this. Ovulation doesn't always occur on time either, it may be later or earlier, so you just don't know these days.
I know many people who have gotten pregnant on this method. You have been lucky so far not to get pregnant but if you really don't want kids just yet i would advise getting birth control. Either condoms, the pill, the patch or shot. Speak to your doctor about the best for you

yes its possible. very possible. the last statistic i heard was that 1 in every 10 will be pregnant within the first year. besides the fact that most men dont pull out in time, there are sperm in the pre-ejaculate (precu m) its that clear fluid that comes out when he is aroused. not as many as actual semen, but it only takes one lucky sperm. so i would go on the pill, or they have options where you dont have to remember. i dont know how it's possible not to know of these, as they plug them all day on tv, but somehow many people dont. they have implants, they have nuvaring (a little ring you insert into your vagina and keep it there for 3 weeks) they have the depo-injection, they have the patch. go to a clinic or a doctor and discuss your options. there are many. and if all else fails, then go for the condom.

It's extremely unreliable; the male will often leak before actual ejaculation.
It is the only form of birth control allowed by the Catholic Church; ever seen a small Catholic family?

You are playing Russian Roulette using this method.
Even if you hubby can hold back, he's sure to release a little pre-c*m. That is enough to impregnate you.
Congratulations on the baby he doesn't want!
