credit unions do have money orders but you have to be a member to buy one from them. That means you have to have an account with them and they are $1 where I live. Maybe you could get your own checking account. Then you wouldn't have to pay the fee for money orders. There are many free checking programs at banks

If you were with the Credit Union yes, but most people just go to the Post Office for a money order. Simple and cheapest way. Also, if you are a triple A, (AAA) member, I believe it's free.

Yes, you can get a money order from a credit union. If you don't have an account with them, I would bring cash to cover the transaction plus any fees.

Mine gives them to me. not sure about if you don't have an account with them. Lots of stores sell them, like 7/11, or even some grocery stores.
