Changed the attitudes of Americans who donated to terrorist groups such as the IRA?
I mean when they saw their own citizens horribly slaughtered by people who had a political grudge against their government, did they think "hmm, maybe its not so good to be giving these groups money . . ."

yes, and Al Quaeda see the American Government as "Agressors" and themselves as "Freedom Fighters". Thats why they massacred a whole bunch of your civillians on 9/11/01. thats why American men kissed their wives goodbye in the morning and never came home. Thats why bodies were falling out of the towers as people threw themselves to their deaths rather than burn or die of asphyxiation. Thats what "Freedom Fighters" do to civillians.

One may hope that they realized the means do not always justify the end.

I don't really know any Americans who supported the IRA or their opposition; though I have met some of the IRA's supporters, not knowing at the time what they did. I now know that both "Protestants" and "Catholics" in the conflict used terrorist tactics, and they don't deny it. I find it troubling that so-called Christians could do this in the name of religion.
Since 9/11, apparently even the Irish terrorists have given up terrorism, seeing that the War on Terror was likely to go after them too.
I don't know how many Americans may have donated to the IRA without understanding the horror of torturing and killing ordinary people, non-combatants. But, since even the Irish parties have apparently rethought their tactics, I can hope that American supporters have too.

The American government have a member of the Bin Laden family on their VIP invite list.
Money causes wars. In this case OIL.
The East has it and the American government wants it.
People will donate to any cause they feel is worthy. Terrorists or not. If only lessons were learned that quickly.

Nine Shillings and Elevenpence.
Actually Bin Laden and his pals are Saudis, so why did Bush attack secular Iraq and Afghanistan rather than the autocratic, anti-democratic, Islamic state where women are beheaded and civil rights are a joke, Saudi Arabia?
The terrorists who flew the aeroplanes into the the World Trade Centre were Saudis.
Could it be that the Bush family's oil connections with the Saudi royal family make him blind to what in his eyes makes less extreme countries "evil"?
Bush is corrupt, him and his whole disgusting tribe.

The Good Friday accord happened during Clinton Adm. So sending to IRA luckily was already on the way out. People who only know power to get what they want would have been encouraged by 9/11.

I very much doubt it. It's all about semantics. Many of them have Irish ancestors and don't see the IRA as terrorists but prefer to regard Ireland as a country fighting for independence. They won't consider IRA bombings to be on the same scale as the twin towers, apart from which, the bombings never directly affected the USA so they would have little understanding of them.

When individuals of ANY political leaning lend support of any nature TO it -- they do so (usually) with full knowledge of the facts involved in the most likely uses OF that support and that is the exact reason that they contribute !!
Any group or faction that carry out such actions know exactly where their support base is --- and wouldn't jepardize that support by ANY actions that they knew would injure that base in the least -- for THAT support IS the long term "life blood" OF most of these groups !!
So, it is highly unlikely that anyone supporting the IRA or any other group that have violent activities on their menu --- would even EQUATE what happened on that date to ANYTHING that THEY are about in any form or on any level whatsoever !! For in their minds "Their's is a cause of JUSTICE and not one of radical fundamental -- anything---" !!
That's the most interesting thing about acts of violence -- whether they are carried out by radical individuals OR constituted governments --- it is ALWAYS DONE "with God on THEIR side" !!! Whoever they are !!!! It's those OTHER people who are the "crazy" ones !!!!!!

I think it will have changed many people's attitude but there is a question that is difficult to answer - When is someone a freedom fighter and when are they a terrorist? The IRA saw themselves as freedom fighters and the British government as aggressors.

This is to all the people who answer by saying rubbish such as 'one person's freedom-fighter is another's terrorist' etc.
You people make me sick. The IRA have murdered thousands of innocent men, women and chilldren by planting huge bombs in the centre of British and Irish cities. Many of you US citizens, through your usual lack of knowledge, tried to romanticise these maniacs, and handing money hand-over-fist to them to further their cause, allowing them to import more guns and explosives to kill more innocent people.
Just admit it, don't give us your shite. YOU helped the IRA terrorists. You helped them kill innocent thousands of innocent people. They have killed more people in the UK than have ever been killed on the whole USA mainland by terrorists including all acts carried out by Al Queda. Far more than were slaughtered in the WTC.

it's ills of over-religionisms. there is nothing great about 9/11. it is media managed by the suppliers of weapons and ammunitions which is hyperactive to cause hatred amongst people of the world who demands equality and peace as well. America with all it's shortcoming is the epitome of true democracy. people should forget the past and get going.
