Who here agrees that gays have it worse than ANY race when it comes to racism, because I certainly dont. I just find it so crazy that she would actually argue with me over that... Come on chic...being gay isnt sh** these days,....everybody is gay now a days.... anywayz..please comment.. Thank You!

In some ways, being gay CAN be worse than being an ethnic minority.
Ethnic minorities don't have to worry about "coming out" to their families about their ethnicity, whereas gay people are often beaten and disowned by their families for being gay.
Ethnic minorities have their families to come home to when people are racially mean to them. Too often, gay people have nobody. They get beaten in the streets and cannot go home.
I don't know where you live, but it sounds as if you live in an area where homosexual acceptance is the norm. It is not that way in many places.
Try visiting a non-gay-friendly area and wave a rainbow flag. I guarantee, the reaction you will get would not reflect on your race and it would not be pretty.

too me any kind of hate crime is bad racism is bad for blacks- jews- chinese- and different nationalities.. anyone who is racist has a very low IQ there mostly people who dont have it all upstairs if you know what i mean lol like there elavators dont go too the top lol or they lost some of there marbles lol gays know there not the only one being targeted . and racism comes in all colors listen the more people that relize we have to start talking too one another and listening too what each other has to say the better off will be. if we can all come too some kind of ageement that we all are just tryen to survive in this big world and make the best out of whats left of it ...... we all bleed red ..... we all need air..... we all need food and water.... and if a disater happened and the people next door were black and the only ones with water then you would see how close people can be.. thats how i see it anyway ...

You haven't seen many instances of people being beat up or worse for being queer, because most people keep it quiet.
For many, they'd rather not deal with the hassle of getting justice, especially with the way that many law enforcement venues view this type of bigotry.
That's not to say that it's worse for queer folks than for the victims of racism. Discrimination is discrimination is discrimination. The only factor that I can come up with which might be fueling your friends argument is the difference in the laws. Not that laws against racist actions stop them, but at least the laws are there. They may not always be enforced, but they exist. In most of this country, it is perfectly legal to fire someone from their job because of being queer.
It is far worse in other countries, too. In Iran, for instance, if a man is caught in a sexual act with another man, the punishment is death, I believe by beheading.
Racism is certainly a problem, and I think you're friend denying it is rather stupid of her. However, I think you're very wrong in your belief that black folks have it worse.
It's all bad in my book.

I don't think anyone has it any worse than the other. When people start looking at others as people instead of looking at them as white or black, gay or straight, or what not we will all see the good. Who cares what color you are or who you love...everyone is the same inside. If you were blind...everyone would look the same and just sound different. You would be able to hear who is compassionate to who is deceitful, who wants to help vs who has to help. Some people make it worse for themselves while others make it worse for others. You are supposed to enjoy life...everyone needs to stop focusing on the repressions and step forward.

It's so much easier for a racist to look at someone who isn't white and identify that as an easy target. You can't just walk up to someone and def know they're gay. A lot of the same people, though, who are discriminatory against different races also feel the same about gays and lesbians. It's kind of a hard thing to quantify into better/worse.

This day in age, I would have to agree with your friend. I feel racism isn't even close to being as bad as it was over 100 years ago. I'm not saying it doesn't exist...because it does (and I'm totally against it).
But with gay marriage being thrown around all the time, it constantly brings up a topic that many people aren't too fond of. I mean...it isn't right that the government denies gay couples the ability to get married.........
When you look around the school system...you don't hear kids saying "look at him...he's white/black"...you here them say "look at him...he's gay".
It may not be in the news as much as racism...but its a much more serious topic. And I'm not trying to be rude at all...its just my opinion.

I haven't read of any recent lynchings in the news...but gays get bashed all the time. Blacks were slaves and were mistreated, but things are much different for them these days. As for gays, it seems most of the country is busy making legislation to keep them from having all the rights that the rest of the nation has...they have not yet attained "equal" status, while blacks have.

I'm a black lesbian female. I've gotten it from both sides of the hate spectrum. I've been disliked for being who I am. Is it fair? No. Is it easy? Definitely not! The point I'm trying to make is, hatred is hatred, no matter in what form it comes in. Nobody wants to be attacked for something that they have no control over. It's bad all over.

It's unwise for anyone to compare their hardships to someone else's hardships. And I'm not going to add fuel to that fire.
But coming into a gay-themed forum to make the statement that every race has it better than gays isn't wise, either. I'm guessing you're just venting, but if you don't know what it is to be gay (especially in rural America), you shouldn't try to compare it, any more than I can compare my life to someone who was born in the same town I grew up in, but was black.

I find it incredibly sad that two groups of people who are so discriminated against spend their time arguing the point of who has it worst. Folks, we all need to stand together until all citizens have full rights and acceptance. When racism, sexism, and homophobia are dead then you can waste time arguing over this kind of nonsense.
Shame on both of you.
