I wasn't allowed Roseanne or the Simpsons either! Couldn't watch Footloose, or Girls Just Wanna Have Fun either (the girls disobeyed their fathers). I watch the Simpsons now, and have for a long time even though I wasn't allowed as a child. Of all the things to worry about, I don't think a couple of sitcoms are something to make a big deal on.

I wasn't allowed to watch PG-13 movies till I was 13, and no R movies till I was 18. We did watch the Simpsons and Roseanne though. Those shows were honest bits of life and I can't believe any parent wouldn't allow them. There was no swearing, sex or violence.

Wow, all you guys having all these rules. I wasn't allowed to lie. That was pretty much it. I made good choices because of this... Now the consequences for telling a lie was, well we wont go into that. However, I am a very good parent to my two daughters and there is a lot I dont allow them to do. Its for there own safety. Once my oldest is a teenager, she will be allowed to make her own choices, just as long as she doesnt lie to me. I understand that there needs to be rules, but discipline prevails in most cases. Rules are simply broken, however if you teach a kid discipline that sticks, rules always change.
What has happened to our american freedoms? Punish the bad, award the good, and fail the failures. That is a good start to most lives.

whew,' lets see: I was'nt allowed to stay ou,'*? No that's not it !! I stayed out late !! most of all the summers when I was a kid !! But I was mainly in a nearly en`closed back your that nearly went to the end of the block I lived on !! It was mostly town houses connected !! I stayed at the end !! or on the corner in an apartment building over`looking this massive back-yard that nearly the whole side of my block or street played in when I was a kid !! & we all used the basketball hoop!! I took my bike out there often !! Or went to the bike track that was near the swimming pool I loved going to !!Oh', uh'mm shoot at Lion's if I had a gun & they could be found in the CITY !?! lol.. The freedoms I had as a child I cannot complain about !! or just wo'nt ?lol?

Allowed to do would be a much shorter list! I wasn't allowed to be out after dark, to cross the street (these were when I was 6-7 years old) spend the night at friends' houses on school nights or do pretty much anything on school nights...

go to the corner store. My brother almost got ran over on his bike by someone backing out of a driveway when we were little so after that, my dad painted lines on the sidewalk and we had to turn around at those lines. Kinda sucked. We were allowed to go if we were with someone else and promised to be back in a few minutes.

i was never allowed to be hanging around or walking from house to house during halloweens. mom was just too scared that i will adore those skimpy bunny costumes and ask mom to buy it for the next halloween. she definitely doesnt want her 8 year old to be wearing a slutty look costume! *winks*

now i truly understand why its wrong to be wearing such costume. lol
