Someone told me that the k's in the name meant "kkk" and that that was the reason they shut down.

They tried to grow the chain too fast, built too many stores and their sales went down, they are good but they are fattening and a lot of people are trying to cut down. They scaled back their operations and are starting to recover.

They shut down due to bankrupcy. And where does your third K come from ? I count only two. There are lots of things spelled with a K at the beginning so are they racist too?Krispy Kreme had hundreds of owners who held stock in them ,it was owned by a corporation which had people from all races. Now tell your buddy to quit telling ugly lies okay!!!!

The reason so many Krispy Kreme stores closed is money...they went bankrupt.

where did you hear that?
they are losing their business but i doubt it is because the owners were racist.
Krispy Kreme expend too fast and timing is bad, with all the health conscious population, you can't really come up a strong selling point to promote donuts. there's not enough police to sustain their business. lol

I think it's mostly because they lost sales when everyone jumped on the low carb and low sugar wagon. Also trans fats which used to be in almost all donuts, cookies, and pastries. Notice how most restaurants and food processing companies have changed to no trans fat to keep up.
