I walk away from it. There's nothing else I can do.

They're ignorant and I don't care what they say.

First of all, I don't like the terms you are using. Homophobia is a term which, correctly used, refers to an irrational fear of homosexuals. It has become popular to incorrectly use this term for regular folks who believe homosexuals are engaging in an immoral lifestyle. Since the whole premise for your question is based on an erroneous and stilted definition of that term the question is unanswerable...
How I handle random hate? I either ignore it or, if appropriate, begin a dialog with the person displaying that behavior. Sometimes just by talking it through they realize that they were off base and change their position. Often, though, they just get irrational and storm off.

Although I am sure at the time it is offensive, you have to realize that the people who are acting this way are doing it because they are insecure with themselves. The best way to deal with this is depending on the situation. In a threatening situation I think the best thing to do would be to walk away and be the better person. In a non threatening situation I would respond with a positive comment like " It is too bad that you feel that way" or " I feel sorry for you that you have so much hate towards people" When you react this way it usually catches them off guard and they don't know what to say. If it is a threatening situation and you react like this it may lead to violence because the offender feels intimidated that you spoke up. These people who act this way are fools and it is their loss because they are missing out on meeting a lot of cool people

Sometimes it's the hardest thing to be the better person and ignore the ignorance and hatred that they throw at you. The reason that they do it to begin with is to get a rise out of you or make themselves feel better. Ignoring them just shows shows them how ignorant they are and they end up looking stupid. Of course this frustrates them, but... oh, well! Another thing I like to do is say something like, "God bless you! You have a blessed day!" It really throws some people off! I've gotten a few people that way! lol!!!

almost all punks are against racism and different prejudices. with the exception of a few OI punk, nazi punk, and white satisfaction track. I couldnt call a unmarried band from those genres. a number of my favorites are undesirable faith, Pennywise, Rancid, hed PE, NOFX, The Offspring, upward push against, Suicidal dispositions, Black Flag, undesirable Brains(all black hardcore punk band from DC), The Exploited, millencolin, The Distillers(lady vocalist), fishbone(black ska band), elegant, i ought to bypass on for an prolonged time... a number of those are punk rock, hardcore, crossover, skater/pop, and ska. another heavier bands on the metallic factor could be Disturbed, physique count variety, and Motörhead. Lemmy of Motörhead commonly wore nazi memorabilia for result, yet once you hear to his track you are able to tell suitable away he became into very plenty against conflict, racism, and prejudices. whilst asked approximately his sequence he'd say the undesirable adult males consistently had the best stuff and that if his lady pal who became into black did no longer recommendations that he did no longer care if all human beings else did.

You can't deal with hate and ignorance alone. I look to my local community center, and various national organizations to fight hate and homophobia. I support them, and they support me. I also look at what is going on in more civilized countries around the world. I want to work toward making the U.S. a more civilized country that recognizes reality and believes in eqality.

It's funny how you people always make yourselves out to be a victim. If some dares question anything you say they are a "homophobe" or they are "hateful".

Well you know that's a two way street because a lot of people who are homosexual espouse tolerance, but have very little tolerance for those of opposing views.

So your labels will not deter me from speaking my mind and standing up for what I believe is right. Remeber what you may call hate is often a two way street.

Any kind of ignorant hate of any kind isn't worth my time or my energy, and like the first person who answered, I just walk away.

The same way we handle heterophobia/random hate toward us...ignore it. Works both ways. Homosexuals refuse to admit they hate us, so be it.
