Run CCleaner (http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/), then copy the things that you don't really need to secondary storage (burn pictures etc. on a DVD), and finally run Windows Defragmenter.

First of all run ccleaner:

http://www.ccleaner.com/

which will clear a lot of unwanted clutter from your system.

What comes next depends on what sort of data you have on your hard drive. There are a couple of things you could try:

Going to add/remove programs (in control panel). Change "Sort by" from "Name" to "Size". This will give you a list of programs that are taking up the most space. If you don't use any of them, uninstall them.

Searching for video files on your hard drive. Video (ripped DVDs, TV shows, etc.) takes up a great deal of space. Delete anything you can afford to lose.

Empty the recycle bin after you've finished deleting unwanted files (or you could just run ccleaner again, it empties the recycle bin for you).

Hi. Answer 1 is correct. Copy any music and photos to an external hard drive is the best way to make sure you do not lose what you have.

Use CCleaner on it but that is not all. Go delete some programs. Archive some files you don't use.
