I have an automatic 1998 6 cylinder Dodge Avenger, and I was wondering if I could put the 4 cylinder turbo eclipse motor in the avenger, and turn the avenger into a stick?

And what is the price, with a 1200 motor not included?

I want to go from a v6 to a v4, because the v4 is a stick, and that is what I want, but I love my Avenger's body style...

I don't think that will be a problem since your going from a bigger engine to a smaller one. You might have to move the motor mounts and if you want to make it a stick shift, you might have to cut a small piece off the floor in the cabin. Make sure if you are going to do this job, change the ECU/PCM & WIRING HARNESS from the eclipse to the avevger. Lots of people don't do this and find theirself in a world of hurt. I have done a few swaps but never a mitsubishi but their basically the same procedure. Now for the question of how much money it all depends on who is going to do the job and what kind of job their going to do. You don't want a HAM(half *** mechanic) job. So ball park numbers minuim 2000.00.

Technically, you could...back in the day I had a 1999 Avenger and my brother had a 1999 Eclipse, adn quite by accident we discovered that both cars are built with virtually the same engine. However, why would you want to turn a V6 Avenger into a V4?

This swap has been done a few people on the Dodge avenger boards. They have even converted their cars to AWD. Its not an easy swap, there is a lot of work involved. If you have someone else do it, it is going to cost a LOT of $$$$!!!!!
But you can do it. The cars are built on the same platform. It isn't hard to even put an eclipse nose on the avenger

long story short it has been done the 4G63 motor turbo was swap into an avenger but wiring is bit different, and I think little work is needed for the mounts.
