what are they talking about house are built by the guy down the road or some one like me I built a few I know of a few guys who would develop subdivisions and they would have crews on did concrete one floors one walls and so on they would erect a complete house shell every three days but what is this largest builder in the nation crap is there a franchise like burger king only for homes that I never herd about?

No. There are a few really large builders who have offices in multiple states and multiple areas within a state. They have land and develop subdivisions in these areas.
The people who do the work might be local, but the company has regional offices and local offices. They sell thousands and thousands of homes per year.

DH Horton
NVR (includes Ryan Homes)
etc.
Why is this so hard to believe?

Sorry, but you must be living under a rock. There are numerous national or regional home builders; KB Homes, Pulty, Toll Brothers for example. Sure they hire local crews to do the actual work but they are national operations.
