I've been suspended once, and had my suspension reversed on appeal. You get a suspension when you're intention of violating the community guidelines or utter disregard for them is apparent. A lot of people tend to complain when they get a violation or suspension, but I don't think enough of those people take the time to read and understand the guidelines, or if they do, they don't care and do what they want anyway. Yet they still complain when it comes back to bite them. Once you read them, it's really easy to understand the difference between what is and isn't a violation.
