RE:
Is it illegal to be homeless?

It is not necessarily illegal to be homeless, but one may be arrested for vagrancy, or being in a public place for too long, with no visible means of support. It is illegal to sleep in many city parks and on many public beaches. Being homeless is not illegal ina and of itself, but hom;essness may cause one to do things that are illegal.

unfortunately being homeless can be illegal in a lot of communites across the US. Unless you can keep a dime in your pocket. Vagrancy is illegal in several cities, and having been in the homeless spot several years ago I can tell you that I was usually pennyless. I was arrested a couple of times.

no but back around 50 years ago people would get brought to jail for "vagrancy" which is essentially wandering homelessness.
