Black History month??

ok its october and its that time of the year again Black history month in the uk,and i personally feel that there is not enough thing on tv in schools or major events being held celbrating not only blacks but all ethnic minorites within the uk and the contribution they have made to the united kingdom.

Now is the time for some Black kids in schools to come together, create a fund, and celebrate Black history month on their own. You can't wait for others to initiate a celebration that you and others like you hold near and dear. Usually carnivals or celebrations like Octoberfest here in the U.S. is a good way for Blacks and others to socialize and have a good time.

i don't mean to sound negative but if we saw a period of time dedicated to white brits only there would be uproar!!! it almost seems hypocritical - nobody in any ethnic minority wants to be made to feel anything other than equal to brits, or so we hear, but when there's stuff on tv dedicated to black history, the featuring people have never done anything of cultural contribution, they're on tv for being a black celebrity. if i was black i'd find that offensive.

so good for you if you feel there's not enough recognition, i say recognise individuals for what they did, and if they're black, white, whatever so be it. why not change all of it for a month of recognition for those that contributed to the building of a country that welcomes all backgrounds. recognise true people of achievement. i'd bet it'd be more successful

all that was decades ago, 'whites' let it go when it all stopped and everyone else in other groups have moved on, why can't you and others of a similar mind? and you're telling us to get a life? stop living in the past

This is for Shermyne...We do have German Festivals and Festivals for other peoples. They are usually done in cities where there is a large group of that kind of people. As Far as why blacks and Hispanics having an actual month, it is because they are larger groups, and there have been more controversies involving them. In my classroom we celebrate Unity Month in February where we discuss all groups and their contributions. I think that we are at a point in this country where we can start talking about all cultures and making sure that everyone is included.

White people are evil, why would you count on them or whine to them to do something you should be doing for yourself?

Here in the US, white executives have BET, which they make a lot of money off of black patronizers of that network. It's a win win situation. Black people "feel" they have a network that promotes whatever agenda they "feel" is important (except for conservative blacks, who I guess aren't really black) and white executives laugh all the way to the bank. Of course whites, like these people, typically are more racist in their heart, but they do say all the "right" things, and wear all the correct ribbons during black award shows. So black folks here have it made when regarding your complaint.

Maybe you need some white hollywood elitists to come to the UK and set up a dog and pony show for your Black History Month. After all isn't patronizing a silly concept WAY more important than accepting personal responsibility for a races shortcomings? Keep relying on evil white racists to promote your race, and you'll always be complaining. Hell we don't even promote our own race..if we did, we'd be called white supremacists

I agree that if there was a "white history month" I would want nothing to do with it - and I'm white. It strikes me that these things are needed until society reached the point where we don't care what color someone was, but what they did. We aren't there yet. So I would suggest that you go ahead and promote minority people who are doing extraordinary things - not because they are minorities, but because they are doing things of note. If I need a blood transfusion, do I care that the guy who invented it was Black? No... I just care that he invented it. Celebrate the contributions... eventually people will see that ethnicity has nothing to do with ingenuity and that no ethnicity has a lock on innovation. Cheers!

Are you intense black human beings have been right here longer than basically approximately the different minority communities it rather is why!!! the comparable reason white anyone is everywhere and characteristic all there companies, Are you men segregating your self?? No!! you have carried out alot of objectives and now black anyone is besides. we've our very own shows, our very own each and every thing and we worked basically as stressful if not greater durable to get it!!! Now different races are doing the comparable. We whine!! What are you all doing on right here!!!! everywhere i circulate I see different cultures making lives from themselves over right here yet black human beings have been right here knowledgeable ourselves it rather is why there are maximum of black colleges, getting stable activity, commencing companies, classes, and agencies. now and lower back it form of feels like Racist anyone is mad that we've made a fashion for ourselves and are available this a strategies. nicely wager what supply up your whining and get used to it.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? Do you all consider yourselves Godly? I cannot believe that this is what God's people have become. Why have any ____ history months?

It is racist to not include everything as history. Singling out an entire people as different or special might seem like it is showing a special honor to them, but all it is really doing is saying, "Hey, you're not one of us. We get 11 months and you can have one since someone of your people did something important once, but it wasn't important enough to include it with the rest of history."

do what I do and find things to send to say your local news about blacks of note

get together with people in your area and put on a play

invite others and have like a festival

emphasize the positive and not make it seem like a time of "we hate you other people"

try contacting any black organizations in your country about what they are doing for the month

In the US we have Black History Month in February.

I agree that the contributions of ALL people to our respective countries should be taught, and celebrated.
