I'm looking to buy one second hand and install additional RAM on it, as it only has around 196080 KB of RAM.

I can't find any info online - acer, google, etc as to what type of RAM it uses and whether it is still available in Regional Australia or not.

Go to http://belarc.com and download their free Advisor program. Run it and it will give you the information you need about the memory and all kinds of other things about your computer's hardware and software. (And unlike critical.com to which people will direct you, it will NOT attempt to sell you more RAM or add you to their spam list.)
