Hooking a TV up to a computer is in general not worth it even if you can get it to work (which should be possible) because ordinary TV's have crap quality compared to computer monitors (when you're sitting many metres away it doesn't matter if it can't display fine detail but if you're trying to use a computer with it then it will matter).

Try looking in Display properties (try the advanced button under the settings tab) and also try whatever keyboard combination is used to change between display outputs. You probably can't run a Desktop monitor from the VGA port and a TV from the S-Video port at the same time though.

If your laptop is still under warranty and you weren't the one that ruined the screen then send it in to be fixed.

Sorry Andres wasn't very helpful. First, you can buy and new LCD for it. Look on Ebay, you will most likely find a replacement for the exact model. ------- Second, if you plug it into your monitor and the LCD at the same time you will be able to enable that S-Video through your system settings.

right Click or your desktop, properties -settings ------- you'll see either 2 screens or one ------ if you only see one then restart the computer ---- then do the same thing, go back to system properties then activate the second screen ----

Very hard for any of us to do anything with none of the details. What I would recmmend is that you find the manual for the laptop. If you lost/threw that away/am a cluessless loser/ then just search for it on the web. You should be able to find the manual for that laptop, and then there is a magic key combo that you have to push to activate the Video wire output instead of the VGA monitor output. Changes from laptop to laptop, so no sorry, can't help you unless you tell me the name of the laptop. Hope this helps. Hm... not getting 10 on this one huh? :P

Andres is right... Kind-of...

If you're lucky anf have an 'Fn' key on your laptop keyboard..

Hold it down and then scan the keyboard for a symbol that looks like a PC monitor or a TV (or both) and press it two or three times, counting to ten between each press...

This should redirect the output to the TV...

Use the VGA port on the laptop's rear side to connect a monitor to it.
