This home sits on a foundation with a 3' gap between the floor joists and ground. Should i foam the cinder blocks (foundation) and insulate the floor joists or is there another suggestion!!! I also need to insulate some plastic plumbing while im under there, if i just wrap it in the pipe insulation and then do the 2 steps above, is that too much and a waste of time or should i do both anyway? Please help me!!!! or it is going to be a long winter!!!!

With a three foot craw space you can purchase insulation the size 16" to 24" and place it between the floor joist. Plastic should be placed on the ground and you can buy insulation for the pipes.

Not a hard job, but tedious and a lot of bending and stooping.

Well worth your time and expense.

You should have enough room to squeeze under there and by using bats or 6 ft. pieces of faced R-19 or 6" of faced insulation, staple it up between the joists. That's what I would do. That should stop the cold air from coming in.

if you have plumbing piped and fittings in your crawl space under the house, I suggest you not only insulate, but heat trace the piping, as well, to prevent freezing and splitting.

A great idea would be to have the floor joists and subfloor spray foam insulated!! it is totally impervious to moisture, adn animals HATE it!! I would also insulate the cinder block.

Ya didnt say where ya live, winter can be much colder in some places than others. Yes, definitly insulate the floor joists.
Does not hurt to foam the foundation block also. Wrap the pipes, if you live where the winters get really cold, wrap them in heat tape. You can plug in the heat when nights are going to be well below freezing.

Just insulate the floor and the pipes.
(Be sure to get the vapor barrier on the right side.)
