Scout is known as Atticus Finch's daughter. She is 6 years old and is tomboy-ish. She is very child-like but smart because with the events going on through the book, she grows and gets a better understanding of life.

Scout's real name is Jean Louise. I think Lee used the name because Scout is always a bit ahead of the game. She sees and understands before the others. She "scouts" the territory ahead.
