I'll list the top 5 in the BSC poll, but you can give your opinion on the best team in your eyes(within reason).
Ohio State
USF
Boston College
Oklahoma
LSU
Just something to think about:
LSU has 1 loss to Kentucky, but South Carolina beat Kentucky, but has 1 loss to LSU.
Oklahoma has 1 loss to an unranked Colorado
West Virginia has 1 loss to USF
Missouri has 1 loss to Oklahoma
Arizona, Kansas, and Hawaii, but ranked 8,13,18

My opinion: Just from the records as of now and who the teams have played. USF beat Auburn at Auburn and West Virginia. So in my eyes, they have had the best record of quality teams and an unbeaten record, so I think they deserve to be #1 as of now.
Your thoughts/opinions

Well I'll tell you Tony, I probably agree that USF has beaten tougher teams than OSU but neither of them are the best team in the country. My top 5, regardless of record, would be:

LSU
OU
Florida
South Carolina
Kentucky

Right now, the polls mean absolutely nothing, or do they? Yes they do! If a team runs through their weak/meaningless undefeated, they look very impressive(to the voters). They're highly ranked and get voted into the BSC game by default. It's not fair, but it's how the system is set up. We need a change. Now on to your next question.

1.) USF - only because they have beaten 2 ranked teams.
2.) Boston College - because they beat 1 ranked team.
3.) Ohio State - they haven't beaten any ranked teams, but they are undefeated.
4.) LSU- they beat South Carolina, the team that beat Kentucky.
5.) South Carolina

To quote Herm Edwards, "We won, they lost. It's as simple as that."

1. USF - until proven otherwise biggest wins out of the three though.
2. Ohio State - until proven otherwise
3. Boston College - until proven otherwise
4. LSU - have been proven otherwise by my boy John Connor's team.
5. Oklahoma - ummmmm how do they get a free pass for losing to an unranked team that had no business being in that game?

In my opinion it is just wrong to base the overall performance of a team on one Saturday of play. With that being said, LSU is still the top ranked team on my pole. Yes, they lost to the team from Kentucky, at Kentucky, in triple overtime. Yes, the ole ball coach at South Carolina devised a scheme to beat the Wildcats, but lost to LSU. I think this goes to prove the commonly accepted belief that LSU is almost unbeatable in Death Valley. This being said, I believe that the national championship (Although being played in New Orleans, not Baton Rouge.) would be like another home game for these guys and I don't think anyone in the country stands a chance.

The lose this weekend just goes farther to proving the point that the SEC is by far the greatest football conference in the country. Any team is capable of winning in this conference on any given gameday, and that ladies and gentlemen is called parody. Something that only one other conference, the Big East, can claim this year. The number two team on my pole is South Florida, and deservedly so. They went into one of the most hostile environments in the SEC and stole a win from Auburn, manhandled West Virginia (HA! HA!) at Raymond James, and have played a very consistent (if turnover ridden) brand of football. The only question that remains to be answered is how will these kids handle being the chased team in their conference.

My number three is South Carolina. The ole ball coach has something up his sleeve that no one expected, a very large, athletic, and fast defense. I just love it, even Spurrier has finally discovered that you don't have to hang half-a-hundred on the board every weekend to be a good football team. He has finally started running the football from an I-back, power football mentality and it has made all the difference in the success of his offense. The only blemish on the Gamecocks record this year was a loss in Baton Rouge, and I think we can all forgive that one.

My number four team is Oklahoma, these kids are a very talented and athletic group. The only problem they have is inexperience, they will be the team to beat next year I believe. I think that so far this year they have played above their inexperience and proved that sometimes being young and arrogant can make all the difference in high pressure situations. Translation, if you don't know enough to be worried, then pressure rarely gets to you.

Number five would be Boston College. The only thing keeping them from being number two on my pole is the fact that the ACC is not a very strong conference overall this season. Impressive play from the quarterback (Matt Ryan is averaging 300+ yards passing this season), and an early manhandling of their conference foes is the driving force for this high ranking. Tom O'Bryan (not sure about spelling), the former coach at BC, who is struggling down at NC state is regretting his decision to leave a conference championship and possibly more up in Boston.

I know that Ohio State is the number one team on the BCS pole this week and that the sports writers up North want them to be factored into the National Championship picture. But I still remember the last time everyone believed in them and the meltdown that ensued. I don't think they have played anyone to date, and therefore don't deserve to be ranked above teams that have performed against top-level competition. I have them ranked at number eight behind Kentucky at number six (after all they beat LSU), and Illinois at number seven (Coach Ron Zook is bringing the SEC mentality to the Big Ten)

Despite the loss, Oklahoma is the best team in the country. As for #1, that's a fluid situation which will become even more fluid when Rutgers beats South Florida on Thursday.

Ohio State has beaten exactly NOBODY this season - not one single quality win. Just shows how dumb the BCS poll is. Boston College? USF? Give me a break! The strongest teams - regardless of the BCS nonsense - are LSU, USC and Oklahoma.

I believe LSU has the best team, USF are OK but they beat Auburn barely and Auburn had 5 or 6 turn overs alot of teams can beat you when you do that Miss State beat the next week with the same number of turn overs. OSU may be good enough but they need to play someone to prove it? The same goes for BC, strength of schedule needs to be more important.

Roll Tide!!!!!

I have a thing for the "Underdogs" I watched USF play and they are truly fired up and playing the games of their lives. They are bustin azz and takin names. USF is in the beginning stages of their program. What other organization has been able to accomplish what they have in 12 short seasons???? (Another tribute to the coaching and leadership genius of Bill Snyder and crew.)

LSU and OU are more established and supported organizations, and would be a better $$$ draw for the title game, yes. BUT how wonderful would it be for those guys in S. Fla. to get an opportunity to showcase the talent and success of their team and coaches in front of the entire nation. They have worked hard to get where they are and deserve a chance to prove themselves worthy of number #1.

I also believe that South Florida is number one. If they can run out the Big East schedule, they should remain 1 or 2 in the rankings.
Ohio State is good, but doesn't have the strength of schedule to deserve #1.
One of the SEC teams will probably play for the national title, maybe against USF.

I really don't mind where my team is. I hope my team, but if not, it'll be Oregon with that ridiculous Offense. The best conference Championship will, I think, be the Pac 12. and Oregon will win My team... the best team no question: THE BOISE STATE BRONCOS!!!!! You can't stop Kellen Moore. Martin will run on you all day. Harper is the Richardson (Alabama) of Boise. Our receivers may not be great, but we have depth in Hiwat, Shoemaker, Potter, Burroughs, and Moore's brother, Kirby Moore. Our O-Line is AMAZING with Nate Potter and Kellogg. And our defense is amazing, the only killer is our CB's. I really hope the National Championship is between Boise State and Oklahoma... the rematch!

Whats the 'ole adage, you gotta beat the #1 to be #1?

LSU was #1, but they got beat by a very good Kentucky team, so I think Kentucky is #1. I think they can beat Florida on Saturday, proving my point.
