Old fashion yes, but, for such a small act, it scores BIG points with the future in laws (And her). And it shows RESPECT for the man who raised her.

No but it shows great respect for family and for her! So I vote be old fashion!
Now if you have been living together for the past 3 years and you have never met her father????? That would be a little different!

Why wouldn't you want to ask her father for her hand in marriage? It may seem old fashioned; but in doing so, you'll gain her father's respect; which is worth more than gold.

If you want his respect for you and his blessing for your life that is the way to do it. May seem old fashioned, but it will certainly make you look like more of a man in her father's eyes. Will let him know that you respect his daughter and her family.
So get to asking.

It is old fashioned, but very quaint and respectful. If her Dad is older (65+) and kind of conservative I probably would if she and her Dad were close.
It certainly might make him respect you more and take you more seriously.
Either way it's a choice, not a requirement. You know the people involved, so do what you think is right.

You don't have to but during a conversation one day just say I intend on marring your daughter, she is the one for me and you will never have to worry about her. She where that goes. You don't want to run the risk of her family liking you but thinking she needs to see more people before she gets married. Think about how to approach this well before doing it. Do not go with the flow.
Good Luck.

It IS old fashioned, but nice and respectful. These days, it's not so much 'asking' for permission, but rather a stamp of approval...

I don't think you HAVE to ask but I think it would be a nice gesture that your girl and her family will appreciate!! I know that my friend asked before he proposed and although it was nerve wracking he's really glad he did it!! Good luck with the proposal :)

No, but i think it's the respectful thing to do, especially if you know her parents well, and spend time with them.
Do whatever suits you i guess?
and take care
