Hard to say.
They are two completely different books. It would be unfair and inaccurate to say which is best.
Which you prefer is a different matter. And only you can decide that.
Personally, I would rather write on 'Jane Eyre'. If you haven't read either then read 'Cat On A Hot Tin Roof' first. I think it would be more readable to a modern (and presumably young?) reader.
Shame you didn't let us know what the other books were.

Jane Eyre is a great classic novel. A world classic.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is a fine American play, not a book, not a novel.
Jane Eyre has withstood the test of time and is one of the true literary greats.
One vote for Jane.
Only time will tell if 'Cat will be a classic, esp. beyond the US. It IS a very honored play and was made into a fine movie with Elizabeth Taylor as Maggie the Cat, Paul Newman as Brick, and singer/actor Burl Ives as Big Daddy. (If I remember correctly, Burl Ives won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance in the role)

Well it kind of depends who you are, If you're interested in densely written Victorian romance then 'Jane Eyre' is for you. 'Cat On A Hot Tin Roof' is a play not a book, set in the Deep South in the 50s about a family and their secrets.
Neither are exactly easy reading, but I'd go out on a limb and say 'COAHTR' is probably the least hard work, if that's what you're after.

They are both great works, but so far apart in style, themes and genre that it would be very hard to say which is better.
Eyre is a novel and can be rather dense at times. It's gothic and a lovestory at heart.
Cat is a play (later movie) that deals with a Southern family in the 1950s and has mendacity (a favorite word of Big Daddy's) as one of its themes. There are more adult themes in this work, regarding sex and marriage.
Neither of these will be an easy read or easy to write about in depth.

"Jane Eyre" is one of my favorite books. I first read it when I was 13 years old. Came across "cat on a hot tin roof" when I was older... I didn't like the characters. So, I think "Jane Eyre" is more interesting and easier to read than "cat on a hot tin roof". Just my opinion.

Personally, I would go with Jane Eyre. I have always loved the story. The other one is a bit more contemporary, but really, it depends on what you like to read. Jane Eyre has always struck me as a little bit odd, but in a good way.

apples and oranges!
they are both complex and rich works
as far as readability goes, you might be better of with "cat" because it is modern and a play, so won't take you as long to get through
