Just had friends in from Scotland over the weekend. She says it is much more "All Hallows Eve" with the idea of scaring away spirits. ALL COSTUMES are scary. You only go get candy from your immediate neigbors, it's not a candy-thon. At Christmas, many people have costume balls or parties, and that is when you wear the non-scary costume.

i live in a place called derry and our city has a huge street party on halloween night, on the week leading up to halloween there is loads of haunted tours etc. nothing like they have in other parts of the uk. every one no matter the age dresses up. halloween is a big thing here. sorry but compared to the us our halloween carnival attracts over 600,000 to the city for one very drunk part. each person wants out beat the next persons costume

They only celebrate it in the USA. It is an American thing. Some people in other countries might have a halloween party but it is no big deal.

ive been around the world to different countries and lived there for a number of years they dont basically celebrate it as big as the usa does the mostly believe its all mumbo jumbo and its just a hoax to buy lollies for company profit

in Mexico, they have Dia De Los Muertos, otherwise known as: day of the dead...they believe that the spirits of the dead come back to earth...so they set up shrines for their deceased family members,the shrines have things that the family member liked, so they will come back to visit....they also have parades and many people dress up as skeletons.

in bermuda on this one little island they walk around naked on hallloween. but they call it bare's eve
