If there is stuff that I start skipping over, it's got to go. And like jmike said, the last casualty of mine was one that got beat to death on commercial radio. It was Incubus' "Oil & Water".

I have a whole bunch of Oasis songs in my mp3 player that I always skip. I have them from when I used to like them a long time ago.

I haven't got an MP3 yet :(

But, despite have compiled my own CD collections, I sometimes find myself skipping tracks.
So if I'm in an energetic mood, I'll skip the slow tracks, and if I'm feeling introspective, I'll skip the harder stuff.

And sometimes I ignore an entire band or genre for weeks ~ usually because I've recently listened to them non-stop for a week!

Depends. If I'm in the office, I let it play; but if I'm in the car, I tend to skip over the lighter songs (i.e. Elvis) or the songs that are already classic rock radio roadkill (i.e. Skynyrd).

NP: "Alcohol and Pills" - Todd Snider

***I should add that if I come across a song (I have 5,980 right now) that causes me to wonder why I added it, I normally delete it when I get home so it disappears on the next update.

Mushroomhead - Crazy

It's a decent cover of the Seal song, but I'm just never into listening to it. I usually use my MP3 player at the gym, and it's just not a boxing song (despite the lyrical content).

But what if one does not have an Ipod or mp3 player but still wants to answer this question....then what?

It depends on my mood what type of music I listen to. So if I'm in a sappy love song mood I'm not listening to AC/DC or the Beasties Boy. If I want the hard stuff I'm skipping the Celine Dion and such.

I don't put something on my mp3 player if I intend to skip it :)

I wouldn't put it on my IPOD or MP3 player if I didn't want to listen to it.

No, because if there was the overwhelming need to skip it, I wouldn't have put it on in the first place. Gotta love efficiency.
