This is a normal symptom in pregnancy. You should drink lots of water, eat lots of fiber and you can also take Colase, an over the counter stool softner. Contact your doctor before taking anything else. Colase is the safest during pregnancy.
Hope this helps

Yes, I have. It is probably hormonal, or it may mean that you are not getting enough fluids or proper nutrition for you and the baby. Limit your salt intake, and drink lots of water (I know you already need to pee every 5 minutes, but that goes with it, too!) You might also try adding a bit more fiber to your diet, but do it with foods rather than fiber supplements, and increase it gradually or you will have bloating and cramping.
If I were you, I might also try Dannon Activia yogurt as a natural remedy. That works for me and it will actually be good for the baby (extra calcium & all).
Your doctor will probably prescribe a stool softener rather than a laxative, but I don't find these very effective. Do go ahead and mention it at your next appointment, and in the meantime you can call the nurse at his office for advice on what to do or if you should be concerned.

No it cannot hurt the baby, but it sounds like what is happening is your newly expanding uterus is putting pressure on your bowels. It happened to me as well. Try to make sure to take your prenatal vitimine every day and some folic acid. Eat lots of raw green leafy veggies if you can stomach it. This will help regulate you a little better. Good luck and congrats.

Try to increase your water intake, as constipation during pregnancy is very common. Also, a stool softener can help you out. Don't worry, Jr. is probably just fine. Good luck!

No, straining cannot hurt your baby at all, however it could put you at risk for hemmorhoids which are very painful.
Have you tried adding fiber to your diet (i.e. whole grains) or having Metamucil? You also need to stay well-hydrated and if bowel movements continue to be painful you could take a stool softener.

Constipation usually comes later in pregnancy. Try some stool softeners. That's what my doctor prescribed.
