Is the taste in your mouth similar to raw sewage? That's what I thought it tasted like and it was absolutely horrible! I'm surprised it says to take on an empty stomach -- early in my pregnancy I was sure to throw up if I took my prenatal vitamin on an empty stomach -- I always eat first. I was given trials of the prescription vitamins and PrimaCare was my favorite. However my doctor said unless I wanted a prescription she feels over the counter are just as good. I would definitely recommend asking your doctor to switch your prescription or taking over the counter (not Flintstones). I can't remember the name of the over the counter prenatal I've been taking, but I buy them at Wal-Mart and they're in a pink bottle. The O-T-C and the PrimaCare prescription never gave me a bad taste in my mouth.

Try taking the doctor's vitamins 2-3 hours after a meal, then.

Or...

Take a look at the RDA for each vitamin in the ones your doctor gave you, and for the Flintstones brand. If they're close, or if you can get the same dosage with say 1.5 or 2 of the Flintstones brand, then take them instead. I wouldn't take a bunch of the Flintstones, as some vitamins can harm you if you take too much of them. So use a little thought and common sense, and you'll get through it.

Your husband's concern is understandable. This is your first kid, right? He's just worried about you and little thumper. Don't worry, he'll get over it.

Have you tried taking them at night right before bedtime or the gummys? They say that by the 14th week of pregnancy is when the nausea will let up so you only have 2 more weeks to go. With my second daughter I was severely nauseated in the emergency room a few times a week and could not stomach anything yet alone my prenatals I do not recall taking any till the middle of my second trimester and she was an 8 pound healthy baby so dont worry too much.

I usaly take mine about 45 min after eating. I had the same problem I think that is why i had so much morning sickness because i would take then on an empty stomach. Or you can even try to just get a few crackers before taking them so there is somthing but not much in there with them it worked for me. Good luck

Flintstone vitamins would be okay until you get over morning sickness, but prenatal vitamins are important because they contain higher levels of folic acid and calcium. While I had morning sickness, I took my vitamins at night before bed with a couple of saltine crackers and a glass of milk.

During my first pregnancy I took flinstones vitamins. But you can also try taking the vitamin before bed. Ive heard it work for a lot of people. I on the other hand couldnt do that either..but its worth a try. Try eating crackers or something dry with it. Hope you feel better soon!

I was never able to take prenatal vitamins. They made me sick all the time. My doc recommended Flintstones to me. Just make sure that they have IRON in them. Only you know your body. I have two very beautiful strong children and I did not take prenatal vitamins. Just make sure you let your doctor know what you are doing so you two can be on the same page. GOOD LUCK GOD BLESS AND CONGRATS!!!

Taking prenatal vitamins without a meal with it sounds like the problem. Try to eat something, and next time you take your vitamins- eat a meal with it.

The prenatal vitamins made me sick my whole first trimester if I took them early in the am. Try taking them 2-3 hours after you eat, that helped me.
