Well, you have done a good job in maintenance. However, you missed a couple of vital steps.

One of the problems here is the registry. This is your computer largest filing system. It holds all info on updates, installs, uninstalls, etc. Your computer must constantly check the registry in order to load programs and applications quickly. However, the registry can become extremely bloated if left unchecked overtime. It must be cleaned, organized, rid of errors. If you clean and organize your registry, you will make more resources available for speed and cut down on your PC time to search through the registry. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.

Greetings. My name's Sanjay Patel, and I currently hold an honorary Master's degree in the field of Computer Science. I am aware of, and have personal knowledge related to your question. There are computer maintenance businesses which are probably in your area, however they come at the cost of hiring a professional to enter your home. There may also be some local destinations where you can drop off your computer and wait to have a technician look at it. These options can often be costly, and pretty inconvenient. The answer to this question can probably be found doing a little extra research on Google.

A well-running computer can be a hard thing to maintain. From my experience, there is but only One software which is reputable- and consistently reliable for healing sick, slow computers. Reimage™ is a world-renown, easy to use software designed by Forensic scientists and made for the average person. This thing will fix literally just about ANY problem you could possibly be having with your PC. Reimage was recommended to me by a Professor during my 2nd year of Graduate school.

No worries. - Run Disk Cleanup first. Pick everything that it finds... delete it all. - Then run CHECK DISK. Open My Computer and RIGHT CLICK on your C drive. Pick TOOLS and click on CHECK NOW. pick both tests and let this test run after you restart. It might run for an hour or longer. If you find errors, run the test AGAIN. On the second run, it should not find any errors. If it does... it is time to get a new drive. - Then run DEFRAG. Yes, this could take a very long time. But here is the catch.. You should have about 20 percent of your drive FREE for it to work. Do this regularly for a faster computer. Good luck and Happy Computing!

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically! It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more!

It wouldn't hurt to turn the computer off, unplug it, open the case, and blast out all the dust with compressed air. The fans in particular collect dust.
After that, try a program like Registry Mechanic to fix all the errors in the registry. Windows loses files every time it shuts down. Registry Mechanic costs about $20 or so but it's worth it.

If it normally (last month or so) runs faster then you may have a trojan malware or virus using your CPU more than your normal programs. Of course systems can slow down when they overheat as well (though not as often) I regularly remove my CPU fan and lift off the little blanket of dust that accumulates on it.

Check event viewer, start, run, eventvwr and look for disk errors. It shouldn't be noisy. Maybe replace a fan or two.

Need for information -- age, type, etc.

It could be a virus, it could be a hard-drive going bad.

If the noise is not from the fan, and there is any screeching; it's probably the hard drive dying.
