As far as i know...single core processor is good for general purposes like browsing...MS office...etc...but its known to be bit slower than Duo....

However duo costs only little expensive than single...

But once u get single u wil not be able to upgrade ur laptop to duo...

So make a wise decision before u buy!!

If you aren't too demanding a single core processor will probably do just fine (if you get an ultra-portable you might not have a choice in the matter).

I wouldn't try running Vista on it (actually it'd be a good idea to avoid running Vista on anything) but it should handle Linux or XP just fine along with net surfing and basic productivity applications just fine.

yes if its 2 ghz or more if not buy a dual core able to run more things the same speed
