They are turning off the water in my apt bldg today, for most of the day for maintenance...what do you do w/o water if you can't even flush the toilet...they said it would be off between 9 and 4. Great. I just took my shower (7:15 a.m.) and have some water in store in case I need some...question is, is if I put some water in the toilet when flushing it when the water's off, would that allow me to flush it again? Last time they did this I had 1 flush of my toilet left. Anyone with other ideas would be appreciated!

Just fill up as many containers as you think you will need and just pour enough into the toilet each time to make it go down. You don't have to pour it in the tank, directly into the bowl works. As far as it being in the tank, you'd only get one flush each time. I would have extra water just in case it doesn't get turned back on until late.

The reason they turn it off from 9-4 is because that is when most people are at work and wont be affected by it. Keep some pots or jugs of water. If your toilet has water in it now that is one flush. It will fill back up with water, Then add more water to the back of the toilet. That will give you another flush. As long as there is water in the tank on the back of the toilet you have a flush. When you run outta water and your tank if full then you have come to your last flush so use it wisely lol. Like the chick above me said fill you tub then you will have plenty of water

fill the bathtub and get a small pail to flush with and you will be fine all day.
