Not really sure if more people would watch it as college football is a sport that depends on the rabid support of students, alumni, and people that live in states or areas that have a big time national program.
Most people who have never experienced college football in this manner don't understand the rabid obsession of their fans as in some stadiums over 100,000 people show up.
Look if you didn't find Kentucky vs LSU exciting or Cal vs Oregon State then I not really sure if you'll ever get into college football as many of these regular season games would be made meaningless.
I certainly found this more exciting then what the NFL put out this week.
Boise State vs Oklahoma may have not been a playoff , but after a game like that who really cares it was more memorable then the often over hyped boring Super Bowl.
NFL is the NFL and that's never going to change and College Football should just stay unique not everybody has to follow the NFL. 2 years ago Texas vs USA was one hell of a game , so some times they do get it right.

I think that College Football is just fine the way it is. Each week you play what could be the Championship game.
In the Bowl system, multiple teams get to win their Final Game of the season and start the next season on a roll.
Let the champions of the top conferences play....lets how well the Big 10 champion Ohio State does against the South Eastern Conference again this year.....last year Ohio State didn't do so well against SEC Champ Florida!

Right now I watch it from the 10:30 am until I pass out, usually around 11:00 pm. So really, I doubt that I could possibly watch any more college football, regardless of how they choose a champion.

I enjoy watching college football. And I'm an avid buckeye fan.
The game saturday between lsu / korntucky was quite excellent. I enjoyed watching korntucky come out on top so that the buckeyes could be #1. I enjoyed watching the dynasty of USC get slapped on the chin by stanford. The look on pete carrolls face was priceless.
Tired of people, like wetzel, saying that the buckeyes haven't played anyone yet. He seems to discount the fact that the buckeyes have tremendous coaching and recruitment. And that they've slapped michigan around silly.
So I continue to watch, because its awesome in high def and the action is great :)
AND MY TEAM IS #1 AND YOU KNOW DEEP DOWN INSIDE THAT YOU ARE A TREMENDOUS BUCKEYE FAN READY TO EXPLODE ONTO THE SCENE
HAHAHAHAHAHA

It would make December and January a helluva lot more exciting instead of waiting for 25 meaningless bowl games.
It would also make teams schedule tougher opponents in September, because frankly I'm tired of seeing teams play Central Upper Nebraska Tech.

People would only watch the tourney, and their favorite team now and again, instead of every game. Pretty much like the NFL, NCAA basketball, NBA, MLB and so on.
