I have researched the disorder, so I know what the traits and consequences are. What I don't know is how to deal with this person on a long term basis, as I will be linked to them through another for a long time.

Everything revolves around this person. I would stay away as much as possible. I would not share personal information that could be used against me. I would be polite, but not open.

You must not feed into their disorder... Be strong and tell them when they are out of line... My husband is like this... and of course he thinks he too good for the doctors... so when he starts spouting his babble I tell him to shut his mouth because I'm not in the mood for it... usually people with this disorder will tone it down for those they are close too or in frequent contact with.

It's hard to deal with just make sure you make it obvious you know they are wrong... and you don't care to feed into them...

voice your opinion strongly and if they start talking trash on you, ignore it.

Set personal boundaries as to how much you will "serve" them. My previous boss may have been a narcissist, and she ruled my LIFE.
