Hitler wasn't interested in fighting Britain and France.

His intention was to conquer Eastern Europe and create an empire there to be settled by Germans. He would then turn the indiginous slavic peoples into a slave race. Britain and France were major world powers and stood in his way. The victorious powers at the end of World War I imposed terms on Germany that included a limit on the size of the Wehrmacht, or German army.

When Hitler assumed power, he ignored these terms and limits, built a huge army, and set about incorporating areas into his new 'Third Reich' (or empire) that were mainly German speaking.

However, when he invaded Poland based on a fallacious pretext, then Britain and France decided that Hitler had to be stopped, and declared war on Germany.

The rest is history ;-)))

Hitler regarded France as decadent/weak and while I don't doubt that he had no wish to fight them, at some point he would have demanded the return of Alsace and the city of Strasbourg to Germany.

Why the war started was about balancing power in europe. The invasion of Poland by Germany was a pretext to declare war on Gemany. Neither the British nor the French attacked Germany at the time.

Try to remember that less than three weeks later, the Soviet Union invaded Poland from the east and no war was declared on them. There was also no attempt to free Poland from the Soviets at the end of the war.
Churchill and others recognised a strong German run europe as bad for their own positions of power. It was a very similar situation to Britain's attitude towards Napoleon uniting europe under the French.

Hitlers main aim was to expand Germany's frontiers to the east as set out in his book Mein Kampf.
When he invaded Poland he had not expected that France and Britain would declare war on him because of their treaties with Poland. They had always backed down in the past.
After occupying Poland in October 1939 there was along period of standoff during which he was able to regroup his forces to attack western Europe.
He attacked and occupied Norway,Denmark, and Holland in April 1940 then he turned his attention to France .
He attacked France by invading through neutral Belgium thus by-passing the French defences .
He beat France in a few weeks and Britain had to withdraw their forces from Europe.
He failed to invade Britain but he invaded the Soviet Union in 1941 and was halted in front of Moscow.
In December 1941 he declared war against the USA.
His first major defeat was by the British at the Battle of El Alamein
By the beginning of 1943 he was in retreat in North Africa and Russia.
In June 1944 the allies invaded occupied France and from then until May 1945 they beat the German Army on all fronts.
Hitler killed himself in April 1945

Hiltler did alot, he killed over 1 million people, he declared war with poland, russia, britian, france, and various other countires

War was stated because hitler was starting to take over country's and that goes agnist the treaty that ended world war one. France and Britian said if you take over any other country we're going to war . He said that he wouldn't. The next day he he started taking over Poland
