I've owned numerous cars in my life. I generally use the one I have now for transportation into the town I live near. Sometimes it just sits in the yard though, looking pretty. What was I trying to get rid of? Perhaps an older car...and a few thousand dollars.

I would guess to say the majority of us are not suspects in a missing child investigation. So how can you even compare. Does it make the McCanns innocent because the majority of the people in this world own or have rented a car? Justme had a thought about the rental car and wonders why they didn't rent one beforehand. Wanted to know what people thought. Isn't this what this site is for? Asking questions and getting opinions? Alot of people gave very sensible answers like driving to the airport daily to pick up friends or driving to the police station. Things they didn't need to do beforehand so those answers make sense. Doesnt mean they are innocent however. We don't know why they rented that car and why they chose not to use a hire car before she went missing. He just simply asked a question to see what others thought. I guess asking everyone if they own a car or have hired one is just as much clutching at straws as someone else stated to prove the McCanns innocense. I don't know either way but enjoy reading what others think when it is actually a question rather then just pointing fingers at who might be right or wrong.

I own a car so that I can get from point A to point B without having to wait around at bus stops or pay extortionate bus fares, and to save time too because the buses always go around the houses.

I owned a car years ago and my partner owns one now. It's really useful for ferrying the kids about and picking up shopping!

We probably wouldn't need one if we were staying in a villa in a tourist resort with maid service and catering, but I expect we'd get one if we were staying longer than a few weeks...

I've owned cars since I was 16 years old. Right now hubby and I have 3. And his and my kids (we have no children together) have cars, some instances more than one. Couldn't think of a reason to wanna get rid of any of them.

i have hired cars even tho i own my own, i rent them to test drive them before i buy, i wasn't trying to get rid of anything. i'm sure the mccanns had good reason to hire a car without it having anything to do with dumping a body with half the world looking on.

I have a car to get me from "A" TO "B", to save me walking very long distances, isn`t that why everyone has a car? Unless of course, you need to dump a `body` somewhere, in which case you stuff it in the boot, until you reach a suitable "dumping" place for it. What an odd question you have asked!!

Hired one in Madeira, many years ago, before there were expressways, and from experience of driving those winding mountain roads, I'm convinced I was trying to get rid of both of us! We left it in the hotel garage and caught a bus from then on.
As for disposing of bodies, I'm sure many cars have been used for that purpose, in fact I have a car sticker in my rear window saying "ex husband in boot"

I've owned and hired cars. The reason I hired a car was because my old car needed work doing on it, and I needed the hire car to get me to work on night shifts.
I got rid of the old car because it was unreliable, bought another one so I could get to work to pay for it!

Eh? Don't know what you're getting at! When I got my car I was trying to get rid of my last car!
