I think this is a good example as to how we come to speculate on the case. We form an answer depending on our opinion of the case.
just a couple of possibilities;
1) Because they had to pick up family/friends from the airport, because they were no longer on a weeks holiday, they could not walk everywhere, and certainly didn't feel up to using public transport. To enable them to attend press conference/meetings with the police.
2) to dispose of the body.
Personally, i think 1. is a reasonable explanation, but I suppose 2. is also a possibility, but why keep the car for so long - hire it for a week or two, then get rid of it.

What fluid did they recover? Why could it only have come from a dead body? Why could it not have originated from inside the apartment and been transferred innocently? The PJ did not seal off the apartment. Madeleine's DNA was all over the place. I think it is possible for Madeleine's DNA to have been transferred to the hire car without her body being transported inside it. That does not mean I think that the DNA must have been planted.

Need that's why. They didn't need to be out of the Mark Warner complex as they were enjoying their holiday in the complex before the event - why would they need a car?

After the event they had to move out of the complex to a new place, get to the airport, get out and about all over the place with 2 small children in tow - they would need a hire car or would be stuck. I wouldn't like to be stuck in a foreign country for weeks on end without a car with 2 small kids.

They needed it to travel and to pick up friends and relatives visiting from the airport . . . they stayed in Portugal for a few months, and they can't go without a car all that time.

This is a dumb question and must have been asked - probably by you - a hundred times already.

A family on holiday at a resort probably wouldn't need a car, but it would become useful once they knew they were going to be staying for a while and needed to go shopping and take the kids here and there without running up a fortune in cab fares etc.

What on earth has it got to do with you questioner? So many people speculating and none of you know a single thing for sure so why don't you give it a rest?

Hmmm!!!
Never thought of that one!
Very good question!
And it appears there is evidence that Madeleine's body was, at some point in that car!

Why the hell do people have the need to insult you? Did you notice some of the answers are down right rude and obnoxious!
Don't answer if you don't like the questions people!

Maybe they wanted to drive you insane trying to figure out why the hired one and so that you would have something else innate to talk about.

Coincidence, or do we need a conspiracy theory behind every event?
