For showing such blatant disregard for the law, and the lives of workers, you are toast. You can ask for time to pay the ticket, but you have to pay. Fines doubled in construction zones.
5 points on your licence for speeding to start with, I don't know how many added for the construction zone. If you had been such an idiot in my home area, it would be classed as the same type of serious offence as drunken driving, with revocation of licence, possible jail time.

Um..sorry but you shouldn't have been driving 99 in a 50 mph speed zone to begin with.....especially since it was a work zone. And if you have to go to court in a few hours, then what's the point in asking if you should hire a lawyer?

The immediate revokcation of your license, you could also be charged with wreckless driving and in NJin a work zone, the fine is going to be in the thousands of dollars. Plus if you don't get a lwyer your going t o jail for at least 30 days, and in this time the state is going to make you pay for your stay in jail, at $50 a day.
You really screwed up there, you would have better off getting stopped for DUI then speeding 20+ in a work zone

You have known about this for how long? Plea No Contest see if you can apply for defered adjudication. You will still pay for the ticket but it won't show on your record providing you don't get another for 6 months. In Texas speeding in Work Zones when workers are present fines double. Can you show no workers were there? Next your attorney would have set this up for trial and hoped the officer was to busy to appear then the carges would be dropped. Or argue in your case to get a reduction of charge for your hardship. You better be able to pay a very high fine. But if your between jobs take public transport appear in court and spend the next week in jail to work out your fine. Good luck

Dang! My the Judge have mercy on you!! I'm SORRY!!! O.K. In Arkansas, 15 miles over the speed limit, is reckless driving. In a work zone they have big signs I don't remember what they say-about speeding. I would talk to the D.A. when you get there, since it is just a few hours. Or call someone NOW- see what you might need to do. Best of Luck!!! Call a Lawyer!!!!

I estimate a fine of around $600 IN NJ it is usually a $300 fine for speeding, fines double in work zones regardless of whether or not workers are present, however going 99 in a 50 is verging on reckless endangerment if workers were present.

You better get a lawyer!!! I am surprised you didn't go to jail right away. Here anything 25 mph over its straight to jail. I got pulled for 146 in a 55 and spent 15 days in jail. The worst part is I was racing a police officer with the dad behind me and when another cop past us in the other lane the one I was racing turned his lights on. With a lawyer he knocked away the fines and evading tickets but the judge still gave me 15 days for being stupid.

Ask the judge for a payment plan. If you can't afford to pay the ticket, slow down.
You are lucky you didn't get arrested. In Oklahoma, 15 mph over the speed limit, can get you thrown in jail.

Oooooh...you should have been thinking about this before 2 hours til court time.

Ask if you can go to a Defensive Driving course to get the ticket reduced. They'll do that in NC, not sure about NJ.

Yes get a lawyer. IMMEDIATELY! If you cant pay you will definitely get your liscense suspended. I'm not sure but there may also be some jail time thrown your way also. The suspension could be anywhere from 1-6 months. So I say get a lawyer or defend yourself. If you defend yourself......may I suggest the insanity plea.
