I've seen time and time again, secular liberals attacking Christianity alone, while defending Muslim "freedom fighters". Why the one sided hatred towards peaceful Christians?

Christians and Jewish people have moral and a regular set of beliefs that can be found anywhere. Just what are the Liberal beliefs and where are they? Can Liberalism itself be claimed as a "religion?" They are pretty set in believing a lot of things that are not scientific in my mind also.

For instance: Where is it proved you are born gay?
Why is abortion right? And what does the law have to do with it?
That a hard working person should redistribute their money to those who choose not to work or endeavor to succeed?
That criminal should not be punished, or that we would dare hurt one? Especially after they have done heinous criminal acts?
Kids can assault teachers, commit robbery, and even murder, but don't you dare discipline them?
And Christians are wrong with the constitution, the bill of rights and the ten commandments?
So why are they shoving Liberalism down our throats?

A lot of anger comes across in your question. It appears to be a clear statement, rather an invitation for an exchange of ideas. Also, contained in it is a not so subtle attack on a religion other than your own. Perhaps some people, among them secular and/or progressive people, have come to the conclusion that religion is a means of herding, and hurting, people. If religions contain the right prescriptions for living, and if they continually differ on what those prescriptions are, then we will never achieve anything better than what we have now, i.e. fear and division, and, I suppose, war and more war.

Why not attack ALL religions? There. Now are you happy?
But don't conflate Bush's war with your persecution complex.
We are invading occupiers in Iraq. Most Iraqis used to have running water and electricity before we brought them " free-dumb" . Most Iraqis were not afraid to leave their homes and did not have to fear heavily armed Americans...maybe that is cause enough to oppose American occupation.
As far as hatred towards Christians, as long as they stay out of government and NOT try to impose their religious faith on secular society at large, then I have no issue with them. The ones whom I do find unacceptable are the dominionists that would convert the US into a "Christian Theocracy" . Some how we still have a mostly intact church state separation, and I have a freedom FROM religion if I so choose. The Pat Robertsons, Monica Goodlings, Jerry Fawells pose more of a threat to us than Muslims that may respect the Constitution.

Good question and until a few days ago I would have agreed 100% with your premise that it is the secular progressives who do not give a damn about the plight of Christian minorities.

However,it has taken a Democratic Congress led by Mrs. Pelosi,a self-styled progressive,to speak up,in our country's name, and FINALLY condemn the genocide committed against Christian Armenians.

Yes,I know, their reasons were suspect and have more to do with getting at GW Bush than with a humanitarian concern for others and a passion for historical justice. But ,I say,so what? It is right and fair that it be brought out into the open that Christians have been massacred for being Christian and no one dares defend them for fear of being politically incorrect.

Other instances? the Chaldean Christians and the Christian orthodox population of Smyrna were also slaughtered by the Turks in the Ottoman Empire. Palestinian Christians, some of the oldest inhabitants of the region, direct descendants of Christ's first converts, were persecuted, slain and driven from their ancient home in Palestine by the creation of the state of Israel. Even before that, members of the Stern Gang(later Irgun) carried out raids on Christian villages to kill and pillage and strike terror in the 1930's.

More recently(the 1990's) the Christian population of Timor, who are a majority there, were brutally attacked and one fourth of the population killed by Indonesian Muslims. Our U.S. ambassador at the time,a prominent neocon with dirty hands today in the Iraq war, refused to call it genocide and refused to put pressure on the Indonesians to stop it. It got so bad that the UN had to appeal to Australia to send a military force to lean on Indonesia and safe guard the poor Timorese. This same U.S. ambassador has wept crocodile tears about our duty to invade Iraq and save Muslims there from themselves!

We should not pick and choose causes to defend according to our own religious persuasion or political party line. Man's inhumanity to man and the awful crimes that are committed against humanity are terrible in themselves and dangerous to us the human species!. It doesn't matter who the victims are. The slaughter of lawabiding Christians by Jews or Muslims, the genocide of the Jews at the hands of Russian Christians or secular German pagans, the elimination of Muslims by orthodox Christian Serbs...all of these are equally vile examples of what should never be admissable.

I am a Christian liberal and I attack religious fundamentalists who want to impose their will on others, whatever their faith - Christian, Muslim, or Zionist.

"secular "progressive" liberals"?

LMMFAO

They think it's "cool" for the same reason you think it's "cool" to let bill oreilly do your thinking for you!

Much like "Bush bashing", it's just the hip thing to do right now. Majority of those who do have no idea of any of his policies or anything else political as far as that goes.

It's funny how when a person opens their pie hole I can determine if they are a liberal or a Conservative in a very short time.

Progressives are really regressive in their thinking and your question points that out.

Ash --could you give an example of that, I hear it often but there is never an example or are you just talking about how your mom made you go to church?

I don't think they think it's cool.

They think it's a duty. I'm not sure they can fully identify with being a liberal without mocking Christianity.

It's a mandatory standard operating procedure skill set that requires no introspection and, as of late, does not expose them to any danger of back lash. The Christians just take it.

In other words, the practice is what identifies them and, it's easy.
