When the weather man tells you the wind is north east what is he telling you? That the wind is blowing in that direction or is it coming from that direction?

That it is coming from that direction, for example a northern wind is coming from the north, which is why its sooo cold!

The direction of the wind in Meteorological convention is always the direction from which the wind blows at a station or to an observer.For example,if the wind is southerly,it means the wind is blowing from south.

It is blowing from that direction.

If you stand outside and close your eyes and turn until your face is being blown by the wind that is the wind direction. If you are looking south then the wind is coming from the south.

Always remember if the wind is in your face that is where it is from and that is the direction.

When a wind direction is given it is the direction the wind is blowing FROM!

from... a northern wind is cold and a southern wind is warm (in the northern hemisphere anyways)
