Always air dry your clothes. Putting them in the dryer will only ruin their original softness and take away the orginal look.
But be carefeul not to expose your clothing to direct sunlight. A warm, shady, area is best to hang dry your clothes. If you don't have a balcony, try space next to big window.

Hand wash and line dry. Lint is your clothes! If the material is too stiff or wrinkled, toss damp in the dryer for a few minutes then hang up.

White vinegar is a great fabric softener, and easier on your clothes than the liquid commericial stuff. And no smell in clothes - just a bit in the washer that fades quickly.

Now pray the fashion changes don't make your new-looking clothes obsolete too soon!

Follow the manufacturer's instructions about washing and ironing temperatures. Also when washing black coloured clothes use a special laundry soap for black clothes. the same goes for colored, whites, wool, silk etc. Don't put together different colors and sensitive fabrics and turn the inside out when you hang them to dry.
Don't put your clothes into a dryer. Use it only for sheets, jeans and blankets.

Possibly storing garments in those as seen on TV "space bags" when they are not being worn. The bags keep the air out. Using these bags is better than moth balls.
