The Losing Teams Ribbons

2007-10-15 23:30:16 · answer #1 · answered by Wayne K 2 · 0 0

The cup is decorated with ribbons in the colours of the winning team; a common riddle asks, "What is always taken to the Cup Final, but never used?" (the answer is "the losing team's ribbons"). However this isn't entirely true, as during the game the cup actually has both teams sets of ribbons attached and the runners-up ribbons are removed before the presentation.

The ribbons of the losing team which would have been attached to the Cup had they have won it. As a Leicester City supporter, I regret that their blue and white ribbons have been unused on 4 occasions since the war!!
