I assume it's a laptop, so it's a SODIMM and if the replacement has larger Mb size, then the consequence is a better performing laptop.

If it is the right type, speed and good quality, there is no problems. Lower quality will run hotter. Kingston is a highly respected brand.

Dual Inline Memory Modules can increase memory . But they must be ones that match your mother board and must be configured correctly

If you put two different brands in, that could be an issue.
