You need to spend some time thinking about why you used to go to the gym. By the way, you are not alone, various sources will publish various numbers, but a huge majority (80-96%) will buy a gyn pass just before or just after the beginning of a new Year and only go a few times -- and never return. Either they never really made the mental commitment to make the gym part of their regular routine, or they forgot what motivated them to pay their hard earned bucks in the first place.
Did you ever workout on a regular basis? If so, what made you do back? Do you go with a buddy? Stats also show that if a friend is expecting you to be their to motivate him, you are more likely to go --- even if only not to let him down. The same dynamic is motivating him.
Do you "over do it" when you show up once every third month? If so "there is no merit to the saying NO PAIN, NO GAIN!" That's crap. If you don't start at a reasonable pace and enjoy yourself, you will hurt like the devil for the next couple of days. That makes it a negative experience and we naturally shy away from negs. Rome wasn't built overnight!
Get a friend and set "firm" times on the calendar dedicated to time at the gym. Start at a reasonable pace the is comfortable but still causes you to break a sweat and s-l-o-w-l-y- increase the speed on the treadmill or the weights you are lifting and you will be fine. Also, unless you are already committed in a relationship, the eye-candy at the gym is fabulous! While you are working out, keep trying to think of the reason you paid the cash, or were more disciplined in the past. Some of your best thinking will come when the endorfens are flowing in the lower cortex of the brain and you will not only experience a slight mental buzz, but you may remember the answer.
Good luck!

Alright. Obviously the 'gym' is not motivating you and the membership fee that you are 'forced' to pay is not strong enough to get you working out.
You need real motivation. There are two general types of motivators positive and negative motivators which I call motivators and demotivators. At the moment it sounds like you have a huge dose of demotivation. Judging by your short spill you don't like to spend money, you want something fun and exciting but not repetitive, routine and boring.
Some suggestions that I have found to work include reducing the amount of time spent on exercising but increasing the intensity of the exercise. I try to do practical things at home that don't require a gym or the expediture of money.
Instead of going to the gym, why not exercise with friends. Meet up for a jog around your local area with some friends. They usually help to keep your mind off the boring reptitiveness of exercise but keep you entertained and motivated. Make sure you select someone who is committed and in a more positive mindframe.
If you can't find a friend I find that just altering the routine everyday so that it is different gets you going. Eg not running the same way everyday. Changing the jogging route.
If on those extremely bad days where you just absolutely don't feel like getting out of bed or off the couch, I would probably just think alright I may not feel like getting out of a very comfortable position but just think of the long term effects. You will feel much better, better stamina and once you start going you may not feel the need to slouch on that couch anymore.
Hope this provides at least a little inspiration.

I think if you paid for a gym membership then you were motivated to go, and probably wanted to go, so now you should get off this computer and get up and go to the gym. You only have about 7 months until Spring/Summer months will be back - well that is how it will be where we live at anyway- and I know I want to be ready for my itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikni......so if you want to go to the beach with me...you better get off this computer and hit the gym.............K?

If you don't care about the money and you want to do something else, like nothing, do nothing. Its your money.
If you can't find the energy to think up some motivation for yourself then you probably won't find the energy to go to the gym.

here is some advice from a 20 year old: live your life on a WANT to, CHOOSE to, LIKE IT, LOVE IT basis. it has to be YOUR idea and nobody Else's. ALL MEANINGFUL AND LASTING CHANGE FIRST STARTS ON THE INSIDE AND WORKS ITS WAY OUTWARD. one more thing... remember there are NO "have to's" in the whole world but one and that is you HAVE to die and everything else is a MATTER OF CHOICE! you do that and i promise you you will have a better marriage, a better work experience, and you will have a better life. (as in your case you will be more fit)

Just look at yourself, you little sissy man. I've seen 2nd graders with bigger pipes. Your stomach looks like a grocery bag filled with dog shat. Is that your real chest or did you get breast implants removed? I think your *** fell off. I would hug ya but you look like you would break. You have the hands of a prom queen.
