Arranged marriages are made by distinct racial groups to ensure the purity of their line.

Why aren't the condemned as a neo-nazi behaviour?

Interesting point. I had never thought of it as racist, and as some others commented that may be a little strong.

But arranged marriages concern me on two scores.

Human rights: forced marriage, freedom of choice, etc. These marriages often occur in communities where women have no equality and suffer abuse. (I do not intend to denounce whole communities in a stroke here; but we need to speak up for individuals whose human rights are denied.)

The human gene pool: Arranged marriages in some cultures often involve cousins being matched to stay within 'the group'. Scientifically, this is unwise as to keep the gene pool healthy we human beings need to 'mix'. And again, I intend no racism as I firmly believe in one race - the human race.

So, arranged marriages should be avoided, but not condemned in the terms you suggested!

FORCED arranged marriages should be made illegal, but otherwise whats the problem? People in arranged marriages tend to have a lower divorce rate than those in 'Love' marriages. Maybe because the qualities a person has are considered more and they are not swept away in a wave of passion.

I would trust my mum to find me a husband, if I hadn't already found one that is.

no i do not beleive it is racist (thinking it is may be tho) - it is a custom of the chosen religion - if it could be classed as anything i would say it was against human rights - but only if one of the parties did not want to enter into the marriage. However, i would point out that the majority of arranged marriages are mutually agreed - noone's rights are being violated

You are definitely wrong about arranged marriages. It is not racist as it is not a defamation of one race, religion or culture against another. Arranged marriages are within the same religion or culture. Most arranged marriages are set up between the parents of both children, sometimes as early as very young children. In some cases dowries are involved.

That's so simple. It depends on the culture you grew up to further more your parents. Second you can always disobey them on your own will unless you consider developing your feelings to the other person. Besides it's not a government law, it's a tradition made by the ancestors of your/their ancestors. There's nothing to be made illegal about. It's a custom you may or may not follow. Everyone has their choice.

i imagine so. yet then, i'm adversarial to gay activities. The very idea is vile and nauseating to me. hence, to imagine of two homosexuals being "married" is reprehensible in my concepts. i'm no longer asserting this stuff with any hate or malice in route of homosexuals, in basic terms adversarial to the moves of sodomy, oral copulation, etc. I easily have a niece and also friends who're gay and that i love them dearly. Does that require that i love what they do? No. i trust that to redefine the lengthy usual definition of marriage to comprise homosexuals is faulty, and that such unions might want to be unfavourable to our society contained in the lengthy run. i'm grateful that I easily have a mom and a father as a replace of having 2 human beings of a similar gender declare that they are my equivalent mum and dad. As for the "separation of church and state" element, you received't discover that word contained in the structure. that is something it really is misused and over quoted by technique of those who're attempting to defeat non secular practices. I get exhilaration from that you're "surely curious" and want that you'll enable me the right to sense the way I do. I respect the rights of human beings to sense in the different case.

In a good chunk of the world you can marry anyone you want, in the rest of the world it's custom, in the end hopefully you marry who you love hopefully.

Racist is a lil bit strong for that.
