The world's noisiest land animals are the howling monkeys (ALOUATTA) of central and South America. The males have an enlarged bony structure at the top of the windpipe, which enables the sound to reverberate, and the fearsome screams have been described as a cross between the bark of a dog and the bray of an *** increased a thousandfold. Once in full voice they can be heard clearly up to 16 km/ 10 miles.

It really depends. For example elephants are EXTREMELY loud but the majority of their noise is out of the range of human hearing. So, would that count or not?

As far as what humans can hear... on land/air the prize goes to howler monkeys, siamangs, gibbons and a handful of parrots. Underwater the cake goes to whales.

Elephants springs to mind, but then again... Howler monkeys are up there. Bears maybe? Big animals can generally produce loud noises, so... Probably elephants, I think.

Around here, and I live in the country, it's usually humans. Then comes the wrens. They really sound off when they are hunting insects and bugs or guiding their young.
