The Greeks called it Neilos and this became Nile in English and Nil in Arabic. Nobody knows why the Greeks called it Neilos.

The ancient Egyptians referred to the Nile by different names according to the "mood" of the river. During the inundation or annual flooding it was called "Itrw" (Iteru), other times it was called Hapi after the river God who was depicted as a hippopotomus, or "Ar" which simply means river.
It was the Greeks would gave the river a formal name of the Neilos which has been corrupted to Nile or 'nil in Arabic or de Nil in French.

the word 'neel' means nile.
the river in egypt is the NILE RIVER, meaning it's the true nile, the neel of all neels , the river of all rivers.
the repetition is for magnanimity.
