There is no big deal with Rugby Vs American Football and I did read the question someone had written on the forum.
American Football and Rugby are two different games.
How on earth did that person measure the two game together, I have no clue.
I have had the pleasure of playing both and given how the two games are played different, if players tried playing American Football without all the gears, there is no one way players will be playing the game the way it's was meant to.
I enjoyed playing American Football and the great part was with all the gears on, the ability of doing a lot of hard hits that I wouldn't dear try or continue doing in Rugby.
Both games are tough and both involves a lot of intelligent if you wish to remain on the field and if you were to use the wrong technique which was meant to be used in America Football in Rugby, you would either come off as a hero or a stretcher.
On the receiving end of the big hits, both Rugby and America Football both F&*ken hurt.
So, best of luck and enjoy the game and ignore those that continue to compare the two games together and maybe one day people will realise the two games are totaly different.

American football players have intervals between plays therefore giving them time to rest. Rugby is an 80 minute sport where there is only a half time break. In NRL there are only 4 subs, unlike NFL who have like a whole team. Rugby has 100kg+ players too so don't think NFL has heavier players. Back to the point, in rugby, high tackles and throws are not allowed so nfl players wouldnt be able to tackle normally. If rugby players were to play american football, they will get loose and tackle like hell. Rugby is a brutal and gruesome sport, just look at the blood on the player's faces after a match. So I prolly say rugby players would win cause they are better at endurance.

This ain't the right page to answer your stupid question!
Stop waisting your time in here and GO ask that question in your own page! I play American Football but I LOVE watching Rugby!
Unlike us they don't wear protective gears and the 'crunch' in their play is just AWESOME! Bone Crushing Tackels and Running Rugby...Damn Thrilling!...No wonder its the most Dangerous Game on the Planet!
So...Take a Hike Buddy! Stop disgracing yourself!
