I need a basic wardobe that I can carry through all occasions. At the moment I have a bunch of clothes that don't necissarily go together. I am an op-shopaholic so I am constantly picking up adorable clothes for practically nothing, however this has left me with a massive wardrobe and nothing to wear. I am 15 years old so I don't need any business clothes although I do need nice clothes for church, family occasions (which happen alot!) and other special occasions. I am very girly and love skirts and dresses. I wear alot of black, red and purple and don't really suit pale colours. I need a list of about 10-15 items that I need for a basic wardrobe. Please Help!

1. Great Pair of Jeans

and maybe 1 extra - if you have to wash one for any reason (when matched with a girly frilly top can upgrade the jeans to more dressy occasion) make sure to buy a pair of jeans that accentuates all your good points and hides any unflattering points - even if you must have skinny jeans - if you are not a stick - they will not work well for you - if you have a little tummy DO NOT get jeans that come up to your waist - because then you will have a bubble and it will look like you're trying too hard . If you have a good bottom - make sure your jeans know it - (think proud like JLO)

2. A black flairy skirt
(matches everything, and is feminine) - not long - get something closer to the knees or a bit shorter (not too short - you still want to wear it in church)

3. Short red jacket
(sophisticated and fun with lapels and 1 or two button closure (no shawl collar unless you look good in them)

4. white tee-shirts
(it's always good to have a comfortable tee-shirt to wear alone or paired up with a jacket on top make sure they match your figure - if you are big-busted do not get anything too tight that you are spilling out - and if you are flat chested then you should get something that accentuates your figure to make you look like you have something

5. black tee-shirts
(you can never have enough of these - tee-shirts are a staple, long, short, 3/4 sleeve lengths - with a band name on it or a cool logo (but nothing idiotic or sexual because you get bored of it right away)

6. Black Jacket
(for church and occasions) go for short and not so simple - perhaps with a peblem in the back or belted, shirred at the shoulder, cool buttons at the cuff - something that makes you feel fun and spiffy. You can even go for a short sleeve jacket cuffed at the bicep area and pair it with a long sleeved tee-shirt

7. Fun polka dot skirt or another cool design (do not get floral skirts they are boring and look awful)
(black and white can be matched up with the jacket for occasions

8. Dark Purple shirt
(you like purple - and if you look good in purple get a simple oxford style shirt - with perhaps a cotton sheen with cuffs right at the elbow - not very easy to find - you can try for black also - would look great with jeans

9. Black pencil skirt
- I'm not sure if you like pencil skirts or if you look good in 'em - those are really in now - and they can be matched with the purple shirt with a black jacket - then you'd look spiffy

10. A nice belted multi-color dress
(think missoni in a cheaper version) (sorta 1940's style, very flaired out skirt) I don't know what your size or shape is - it could be totally wrong for you - perhaps you need to go for straight dress look

11. Soft cozy sweater (or 2)
(any color you wish - will match fine with the black pencil, flairy skirt and the jeans - grey is a great winter color) Perhaps a v-neck or a crew neck collar and with a bit of a design on the shoulder or sleeve - go for something fun, like beads flowers - you can get long till above your knee if you have a slim waist etc. think 15 yr old chic - make sure not to wear something too old looking for you - so red is good or perhaps a dark green or if purple looks great on you - try a wine color, bergundy or bordeaux color

12.white cotton shirt
(this doesn't have to be an oxford shirt - it can be a fun belted shirt or a wrap shirt - something different that cinches at the waist with darts to give you a nice shape

13. A velvet dark purple jacket would be a nice find (I don't know what climate you live in - whether it's warm or cool) but velvet looks so rich and if it is close fitting - with jeans or a black flairy skirt and fun shoes you can look really spiffy (if you can't find purple - try another deep color - emerald green or dark chocolate brown)

14. I would maybe get another black skirt -
(you can never have too much of those - because again they match everything) I know bubble skirts are slowly going out - but you're fifteen and bubble skirts look so cute and if it comes with a drop waist or yoke - then it could make you look really slim - don't get a bubble skirt that starts straight at the waisteband because then it might make you look fat - if you don't want a bubble skirt - perhaps an asymetrical skirt or sheer double layered skirt also close to the knee and not too long (you don't want to pull yourself down - heightwise if you are short and if you're tall you don't want to look like a string bean)

15. If you have pretty legs - a pair of tailored short trousers are a must - paired with a jacket and a tee-shirt or just a sweater, with tights and neat school girl shoes - will make you look awesome! - get short - mid-thigh
16. A tracksuit
is fun if you look good in those

I'm not sure if part of your wardrobe includes accessories - go for belts, earrings, pins, scarves anything that will compliment but not overdo your sense of style - like big fun red earrings with a white shirt and jeans and matching red shoes - YOU MUST get red shoes - they are so cool. A thick black leather belt you can wear at the waist or low ride it at your hips. etc. Long ropey pearls (fake! don't spend)

Supposedly ballet flats are out and ankle boots are in - but I can't stand them so I can't in any way give you advice to buy those vile things - a fun platform shoe is great and very in - I'm not sure if your mom lets you wear heels at 15 - but if you can go for an open toe platform that can match all your outfits - like a black leather with patent leather etc.

The below links are just ideas - doesn't mean you should spend that much money - you can find cheaper items in many shops and department stores (on sale etc)

1] go through everything - make a trash pile, and a donation pile.
a] trash - anything with holes, or tears too big to be easily mended
b] anything too big, too small, wrong color, or just ugly, in your opinion - donate to a non-profit.They will be glad to have them!
NOW - go thru wardrobe with this list, and see what you are missing!
2] pick out your best neutral colors - gray, navy, black; or carame;. olive green, coffee brown.
Buy dress pants and or skirts in these colors.
Buy jackets or blazers to match.
Buy dress shoes and belts that match.
3] buy several [ 3 - 4 ] pairs of great fitting jeans - different cuts, or different washes.
4] get fitted [ womens ] Tshirts in all your best brights and pastels - assorted necklines and sleeve lengths. Colors next to your face are most flattering.
5] winter - add some pretty cardigans that match top or bottom, or even a sweater set.
Get a few sweatshirts or casual sweaters [ hoodies ] that match a top or bottom.
Buy a few winter dresses.
If you buy one new nice pair of boots a year, you will havea great selection by college! Don't forget 'work boots' [ for shoveling, sledding, etc. ]
Buy a pretty hat/scarf/mitten or glove set every year or so.
6] summer - add some tanks, camis, halters, or strapless if you want. Then get capris, bermudas, shorts.
Light color dress pants/skirts - white, rosy beige; or ivory, and warm beige [ golden tint ]. Jackets to match.
Add some pretty sundresses.
One or two new swimsuits a year. Be sure you have at least one onepiece or tankini for exercise swimming.
7] add everyday and athletic shoes in your best pastels and brights.
8] suggest exercise clothes in brights.
So, what are you missing?

A pair of dark wash jeans...they are casual but look professional.

Black dress pants...even if you don't need business clothes, they are a nice alternative to jeans and if you need to dress up, you have them.

Layering shirts....these are great because you can do different colors under or over the same shirt.

A good black dress.....since you are 15, I'd get a long sleeved, v-neck. You can get a cool belt or scarf to tie around the waist or pair it with colorful shoes.

A great pair of colorful shoes. If you are feeling "blah" and just want to wear a black plain shirt and jeans, having some awesome shoes can kick up a boring outfit.

Avoid trendy things, they never last!

I like women in jeans. It makes them look more home town like and it doesn't look like they are trying too much but if you are trying to get this guys attention, this may not be what you would like

I really do enjoy using long skirts occasionally. They are really actually convenient than Jeans and also much less hot to wear.
