After being overused, it's now just another way of saying:

1. You're boring, now STFU

2. I have nothing worthwhile to contribute to this conversation

3. I'm too lazy to read what you just wrote so I'm typing something useless in hopes that you'll think I'm still paying attention.

4. Your statement lacks even the vaguest trace of humor but I'll pretend I'm amused

5. This is a pointless acronym I'm sticking in my sentence just because it's become so engraved into my mind that when chatting, I MUST use the meaningless sentence-filler 'lol.'"

It should be re-defined as "Lack of laughter".

Great question ummmm not really maybe like a smile or small giggle or something i think thats what everyone does well not everyone but you know. The only time i really think someone really laughs is when they type: Lmao instead of just lol ... So what im saying is part funny: lol
Funny all the way : Lmao -rarely used ,used less than lol!

LOL. Yeah like all the time. What is the point of using it and then not doing it. It would defeat its purpose as a word to convey laughter textually.

Sometimes, if it's lowercase lol, it's usually just a awkward silence breaker. But all caps is usually laughing.

I rarely type it, that "word" used frequently is somewhat of a pet peeve of mine. So if you ever see me, use something along the lines of "LOLOLOL!" it means I'm literally laughing,

I either smile not laugh =/
Or maybe because i have nothing better to say to whoever.

Depends on what we're talking about it.
