when beating the **** out of him you could use a wighted ball the sort that knights used to use when jousting you could likely get one from a co-operative museum

and the shotgun you could use a sawn off that has not had the burrs of rough metal taken away from the cut just to inflict that little bit more pain ;-)

The best form of punishment is to subject them to what they can't have, from a weird and deeply disturbed point of view I would lock them up and encourage their desires, with no access to act on their desires they will eventually break down completly and cease to function as a coherant member of society (You could argue that this happened a long time ago!!) They would eventually both mentally and physically go crazy thus enforcing on them the same punishment that they have subjected on their victims. To me, chopping off a body part or killing them is too quick and pointless.

well to those respondents who suggest giving the child's parents access, you are missing the point that a great deal of child sexual abuse is perpetrated by the parents, so you suggest locking them up with themselves?
with ''mild offenders'' therapy and drug intervention often prevents re-offending, when coupled with strict supervision/access to minors
with persistent serious offenders there is no real civilised solution, chemical castration is not 100% eefficacious, and some of the mutilations suggested would undoubtedly lead to more child murders due to frustrated desire and rage
so you are then left with the two obvious solutions, a death penalty, or a full lifetime incarceration, both of which are not satisfactory solutions in a civilised society, although in many peoples opinion committing acts of child sexual exploitation precludes them from entering such a society, and they should be dealt with under different rules and values

Chemical castration would do for starters.These types are usually accomplished liars so any counciling in my opinion would not serve much purpose.There seems to be many levels of paedophilia,let the punishment fit the crime.

BUT it has to be slow and very painful... letting the whole world listen to their screams for mercy....but don't kill him...no that would be to quick however painful....oh no he must suffer and be aware of the fact that there's an audience watching..smiling and laughing....video it and take real good pics of him crying like a baby and no doubt shouting for his mummy !!

To Angrymam - I obviously don't know where you have gained your information but I have unfortunately had to work with them and there is a high rate of recidivism. They should all be locked up for life. Most of them don't even think they've done anything wrong.

I truely think that maiming or destroying paedophiles isnt the answer, causing them huge amounts of pain and torture wont stop what is effectively a disease of the mind,
They have deranged and wrong sexual preferences aimed towards children but in most cases they can't help it, there is a reason why most people who are paedophiles hide away their stashes of pornography they mostly are ashamed of what they feel.
Im not for one second suggesting that they should be allowed to be free and i do think tehy should be locked up but i dont think they should be castrated - or any of the other things people are suggesting.
I know my thoughts are quite contreversial but its what i believe.

I would love to see the death penalty for multiple crimes like this, failing that, surgically remove the offending parts! These people CANNOT be rehabilitated.
