It is like a mom giving lolly to her child for doing assignments. It satisfies your ego and you feel that you are sharing your knowledge with the world. Although most of the answers here are dross and require only yes or no as answer, but still you will feel that you have crossed a milestone and are ahead in the race with others.
It is an addiction which is hard to leave.

I've never cared at all about my points or level. I hardly ask questions. I get tired so I never exceeded the number of questions I could answer.

Without the points system, we could have many people asking and not many answering
Nobody cares to answer questions. And those who does doesn't care about getting best answer.
