We dont have fleas. I know what thats like and this isnt it. The bites look like mosquito bites with red dots in the middle and they really itch. And they will last for like a week. Any ideas on what it could be? We think it might be spiders. And are there any suggestions to help stop this? Thanks!

Could be bed bugs if they are appearing overnight while you sleep; bed bugs have made a big comeback lately, especially on the east coast.

Please: let me explain. "No see ums" are a type of flea that doesn't bite but lives on the colostrum that's in the linings of your nose and mouth, they will seem to pester you around your face, this is what they're after on you and, animals, they will drive an animal crazy.

"Bed-Bugs" are not really "bed-bugs" in the seance but generalized as this, they are really "dust mites and they live off the skin you slough off at night, they don't harm you but, their feces do create a problem. This is what most people are allergic to, the feces.
If you wash your bed linens three times a week and vacuum the mattress three times a week this will take care of the problem, you can also leave the bed unmade once or twice during the week, they don't like light.

I would say: Number one, these are either spider bites from a new hatch, there could be thousands of them in the room without notice. Wash everything real good, spray under the mattress and around everything that's especially dark. Then wait for about three hours and again vacuum everything again. Wash everything again.

Secondly, these could be flea bites from squirrels from the outside in the grass or, rabbits. Right now their running around getting ready for winter. Their fleas are dropping off. Do you have a large percentage of these animals around. In the yard? check it out and, good luck.

I'd wash all your bed linens immediately, on hot., Sweep the whole room, shampoo if possible. It could be mosquitos sneaking in, or it could be something else. Try using fly tapes, or yellow sticky traps and see what shows up.

Have you stayed at a hotel recently? Check and see if there is black staining on the side of your mattress. If so you might have bed bugs. Then you'll probably need professional help getting them out of your house.

On the news they've begun to urge anyone who has what looks to be a spider bite, but haven't seen any bugs to get checked out for MSRS the drug resistent staph infection...

So, with no bugs, unless that has changed, go to a doctor please.

like they've said previously it could be spiders or bed bugs but also it could be an allergic reaction from foods, soaps, detergent and even from sunburn.
I would definitely invest in good allergy zipped covers for my mattress and pillows and get some spray to treat the inside and outside of my home. In the meantime since you stated the sting can last for a week try to use soap with no perfume or dyes and apply benadryl cream for the itching relief.

We had fleas really bad in our area this year but if that Was the case you would be seeing them I would suggest setting of some bug bombs all over the house making sure there are no cloths piles and remove bedding. Don't forget to extinguish pilot lights so you will have a home when you get back.

I'd guess it's no-see-ums (very very tiny gnats) if you live in a warm area like the U.S. Gulf coast. They're annoying as hell, and screen wire doesn't stop them. You can get military-type mosquito netting at a surplus store very inexpensively; I use it when I go camping, and NOTHING gets through it. I don't think it's spiders, because you rarely have that MANY spiders biting for an extended period of time.

A lot of good suggestions so far; but you left out a few details which would have been more helpful; IE: Your location; when/where thes bites seem to manifest; How many bites each of the "WE" seems to get at any one time; etc.

Florida; most especially at a beach digging for shells at Sanibel/Captiva ... YIKES

Chiggers; Bed Bugs; Fire Ants; etc. a WWW search ..........Insects that bite/sting; etc.; might get you some answers also.

Have you have visitors ? especially from overseas ? Sounds like you may have Bed bugs.
Go to you bed , pull off the blankets and sheets then examine your mattress ,look in seams and under tags and handles.
Google bed bugs you should be able to get a look at some good photos so you know what you looking at.
If it is bed bugs don't even waste your time trying to treat yourself get a professional Pest controller (even the best of us can have problems controlling these little pests).

Sounds like you have bed bugs; A lot of the bigger hotels are having problems with them, If someone in your family or a guest was staying in a hotel or motel recently, they could have brought them into your house.
