I've asked a similar question but people keep suggesting snake breeds that arent native to australia so pleeease if you answer, know what you're talking about.
I'm wondering what kind of snakes are good to keep and not to pricey. Any suggestions...?

Go with a carpet python, they're great snakes. I live in the states and have had mine for nearly two years, she's my favourite, hands down.

You have a wonderful breed of python over there - I believe they are called the Carpet Python. They are a beautiful dark green/brown colour. being constrictors they are not particularly dangerous - although do grow to be quite big. They are pretty price over here in the UK but being a native species over there I dont think they will be too much.

Carpet pythons are not an aggresive species and are extremely smooth and velvety to touch.

I remember seeing a wild one in New South Wales - beautiful animal just basking in the sun, completely non-plused about my being there.

Children's pythons and the related spotted python are two species allowed on the class 1 license, They are both great little snakes and quite easy to keep.
